Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
I have been fortunate to attend "A Tribute to John Denver"
numerous times since its beginning in 2007. This show just keeps
getting better. This Fall, James has added a Tribute to Peter,
Paul and Mary. He explains why he added several of their songs
to the show. Peter, Paul and Mary and John Denver had a special
relationship. One interesting fact is that "Leaving on
a Jet Plane", written by John, was Peter, Paul and Mary's
only number one hit! Also, every year, James adds new Denver
songs to the show. My favorite this year is "A Song for
All Lovers".
James surrounds himself with some of the best talent Branson
has to offer. Randy Plummer on bass, has performed in Branson
over 35 years. He charms the audience with his gospel songs,
on the spot humor and magnificent smile. CJ Newsom adds the
female voice to the band, clogs, and sings as Mary in the Peter,
Paul & Mary segment. Jim Glaspy plays guitar, banjo, and
dobro. There is no better bluegrass performer in Branson. Jim
brings his perfect pitch and incredibly fast finger picking
to all the songs and absolutely amazes the audience. You have
to see and hear him to believe his talent. He should be awarded
best instrumentalist in Branson!
James, having been a friend of John's, loves telling stories
about the songs and John. He introduces the audiences to "Gems":
Songs that never made it to the radio. Of course he sings the
familiar hits, "Rocky Mountain High", "Country
Roads", "Annie's Song". He will take requests.
In fact, there is no play list to the show. It is never the
same! You will be surprised, delighted, entertained, and so
glad you got up to see a 10:00 AM show!
"A Tribute to John Denver" is obvious Branson at
its best. A big "Thank You" to James Garrett for providing
guests his heartfelt tribute to John Denver.

Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
I have always been a fan of John Denver and was so pleasantly
surprised to hear James Garrett's tribute.
He was fantastic in his performance and the show was the most
enjoyable one we saw in Branson.
James appears to be a great guy - as was John Denver and I
felt it was the perfect performance for him to do.
I especially liked the fact that James new John Denver personally
and had several personal stories to tell about that friendship.
I bought his CD's and played them all the way back to Minnesota
- they were great.
I will highly recommend this show to anyone going to Branson

James Garrett is an absolute delight.
His tribute is not only in song, but also in "inside stories"
from his friendship with Denver. The venue fits perfectly with
the informality of the show. It's like sitting in a Living Room,
listening to stories and music.
The show seems to be only partially scripted Many of the songs
are heard on request, and I am certain vary from show to show.
Naturally, he performs most of the favorites, but also many
of the lesser known numbers which give a more complete picture
of Denver.
Don't go expecting a typical 100 minute performance. We spent
almost 2 hours and 40 minutes enjoying every one of them.

It was a great show. The whole family had a wonderful time.
He sang a large variety of John Denver songs. He sang the big
hits and also the not as well known songs. The seats were close
and very comfortable. He was an excellent entertainer. The show
was three hours and all three hours were enjoyable.
While other shows are only two hours, his went well past noon.
His voice sounded just like John Denver. I would suggest any
fan of John Denver should check out the show. It is well worth
the trip to Branson to see the show.

It was a really great show. He did fantastic renditions of
John Denver's songs in his catalogue.
He sounded just like John Denver when he sang. It was well
worth driving to Branson to see this great show. He had a lot
of variety in the show. He sang a lot of different songs that
he didn't do before and ones that make it on the music charts.
Sometimes these tribute singers only sing the top hits, but
he would sing the deep tracks of John Denver's albums.
The whole family had a great time. It lasted about two hours
and forty-five minutes when it was all said and done. Most end
at noon, but he didn't.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
I see a lot of shows in Branson, and I’ve seen this show
several times, but today, I saw probably the BEST performance
of the # 1 show in town! John Denver’s music has always
had a great pull on the heartstrings of America, and James Garrett
knows just how to remind us of that.
As a personal friend of John’s, he brings his personal
knowledge and experience of the songs and puts a special twist
to it that you won’t hear anywhere else—like where
the line about “seen it raining fire from the sky”
from “Rocky Mountain High” comes from. The background
from songs like “Matthew” and “Shanghi Breezes”
shows why these songs have such a grasp on our musical emotions.
One of John Denver’s earliest songs he wrote was not
made famous by him, but by the folk group of Peter, Paul and
Mary. “Leaving On A Jet Plane”, their only number
one hit, was written by a young John Denver. This show pays
tribute to the connection between John Denver and the folk group.
Other members of the band include Randy Plummer, from the early-Branson
Plummer Family, who does an excellent job on stand-up bass and
backup vocals. Jim Glaspy provides his banjo and national award-winning
dobro expertise with some amazing sounds, and CJ Newsom adds
her strong vocals and other entertaining aspects to the show,
too. Other surprises and special guests are liable to appear,
too.
If you want to experience what Branson truly has to offer,
then this show has to be at the top of your “must see”
list. If you weren’t a big John Denver fan when you came
in…you will be when you leave.

Four of us walked into this smaller venue and did not know
what to expect, except for John Denver music, and about three
hours later we had experienced the most interesting and enjoyable
time with James Garrett and the other musicians.
Great guitar, banjo, bass fiddle, dobro and singing! Oh yes,
and the laughter and singing along - who can ask for anything
more?
We even got a treat with some Peter, Paul and Mary songs. When
we come to back to Branson we will definitely include this show
on our list of "things to see and do".
Thanks to James and the whole crew for being our friends for
the morning and making sure we had a good time AND got to hear
the wonderful music of John Denver.

Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
Wow, what a great show. The intimate setting made it all the
more enjoyable. I am a great fan of the late John Denver and
did not want to be disappointed. I wasn't. James Garrett was
excellent. His friendship with John Denver came through in the
stories he told about his friend. James is a fine entertainer
who makes his audience feel at home and a part of the show.
He held conversations with various members of the audience and
said "where else can you stand on stage and speak with
someone in the last row; I love this place." He did a great
job with John's hit songs in spite of a little gravel in his
voice, he did what he called "Gems" little know Denver
songs that were great and some truly funny songs John had written
in lighter moments.
I am a big fan of great musicianship and there was plenty to
enjoy. James is very good on the 6 and 12 string guitar and
Jim Glaspy is just incredible on the guitar, banjo and dobro.
I saw Jim at our hotel the next morning and told him I thought
his Rocky top was better than Roy Clark in his prime. Randy
Plummer on Base mad this the perfect small band in a small theater.
If you are headed for Branson, go see this show. You will be
glad you did.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
This is one of the very best shows in Branson.
I liked it because it was a "tribute", not someone
looking like John Denver or trying to sound like him, but singing
his songs.
The personal stories that James Garrett told about John Denver
before he sang his songs, was the very best. We learned who
John Denver really was. We had seen John Denver in person 2
times in Mich. and this show was a must to see and we thoroughly
enjoyed it.
James even went over time as he took requests, and the time
just flew by. There was not a single moment we wished this show
would end.
I rate this show at or near the top of shows in Branson.

James Garrett does a wonderful tribute to John Denver.
Since he was a friend of John Denver he talks about the reason
that John wrote many of his known and unknown hits. James has
a beautiful voice and in this small theater he interacts with
his audience and gives 110% to his audience.
It was the best show that we saw while we were in Branson for
six days last week.
Randy Plummer is a master in playing the bass and we really
enjoyed his gospel songs. Jim Glaspy was unreal when he plays
the guitar and the banjo!
C.J. Newsom also has a beautiful voice and does a great job
with the Peter, Paul, and Mary segment of the show.
This is a show that no one should miss while they are in Branson

My wife and I made a last minute decision to visit Branson
without prior reservations or plans. Our last visit was perhaps
three years ago.
Judy has always been a fan of John Denver to after the attending
the Noah show the prior evening we spent the morning enjoying
the John Denver Show. We both felt that James Garrett put an
enormous amount of passion and personal knowledge of his friendship
with John into the show. Shows are shows but personal knowledge
and a passion about what you are doing are rare very meaningful.
We cannot recommend more than any other show that you take
the time to experience the smaller venue.
Big productions and money can never replace sincerity and talent.
Keep it going and we will revisit on our next trip to Branson.
Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to attend.

We went to the show with two other friends and all of us just
LOVED IT.
James Garrett sang the songs that we loved of John Denver and
told a lot of personal stories that made it more meaningful.
There was a variety of music and dancing and the banjo player
was great.
C.J. Newsom was great at clogging and singing and of course
her little girl was precious. We remember Randy Plummer when
he performed with his family so it was great to hear and see
him again.
How can you write more words to spell out how much we enjoyed
this program when these performers did such a superb job of
entertaining us. It was a couple of hours of great fun. The
small theater made us feel part of the show.

It was like we were in the Los Angles Coliseum. James Garrett
made us all clap and yell loud so he could think is was in the
Los Angles Coliseum. The audience did that for every entertainer.
Randy Plummer sang some Gospel songs. Another gentleman played
the banjo and guitar. Randy Plummer played the bass.
CJ taped dance, sang, and sold teeth that glowed in the dark
at intermission. The other three band members sold CD's at intermission.
James Garrett told stories about John Denver. At one show he
said one lady said she wanted Randy Plummer to sing a Gospel
song, the other guy to play the banjo and James Garrett to sit
down.

I am a John Denver fan since John came on the scene in 1971.
I have his complete album set and most of his CD's in my library.
James Garrett puts on a show that surpasses anything that I
have ever experienced. His side bars with the audience telling
us about John Denver and his character traits are the best.
James Garrett is a very entertaining performer and his band
and back up singer are the best in Branson. I have never been
to his show and not seen the theater packed to capacity.
James Garrett is one of a kind, and I make it a point to see
his show every time I return to Branson.

James Garrett was amazing. I was never able to see John Denver
in concert but I truly believe his spirit is with James Garrett
as he recreates the music Denver left for us to enjoy.
God has blessed Garrett with a remarkable artistic gift. The
back up musicians and vocals were just as impressive. They are
all very talented. The stories Garrett tells about Denver is
an added bonus to the show. Being a long time John Denver fan,
I enjoyed hearing things about his personal life that I didn't
know.
I felt the need to cast my vote for James Garrett because he
put on a very awesome and memorable show. I recommend everyone
go see it. It was just as good, if not better, as the bigger
shows I saw while in Branson. I had a really wonderful time.
I hope and pray when I return to Branson James Garrett will
still be performing because I would really love to see his show
again.

Quite a surprise bonus to our tour trip to Branson.
James Garrett really brought back memories of John Denver,
but kept the show fresh and new at the same time. Randy Plummer
and Jim Glasby were superb in their own rights, but also complimented
and added to James' performance.
Inviting audience participation really made everyone feel at

It was easy to get lost in all of the great music performed
so well by James Garrett and Randy Plummer plus the nice singer
C.J. who came on several times. She added yet another dimension
to the show which was already pleasurable.
The dobro player was gone the day I attended, so it was great
to see James and standup bass player Randy carry the show so
well. That told me how talented they are! I don't see such versatile
musicians at any other show in Branson.
It was a pleasure to sit back and listen to my favorite John
Denver songs plus MANY others, a few I'd never heard before.
I understand James like to introduce new John Denver songs and
they were nice to hear. Annie's Song, Rocky Mountain High -
the greats were played too.
The Imax parking is very plentiful, the atmosphere in the Little
Opry Theater is perfect for this show. The lady taking tickets
is nice and helps the band out nicely. No other show is like
this in Branson.
It should win 2011 Best Morning Show or Best Tribute Show.
I can see why it has won several awards in the past! A must
see show for all ages.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
The John Denver Tribute Show is “locked and loaded”
with talented musicians, spontaneity, funny happenings, beautiful
John Denver lyrics and melodies, comfy seats in the small, informal
Lil Opry theater, sometimes a special guest or two - and sometimes
one of the owners of the IMAX (Paul Bluto) drops by to sing
and crack jokes and tell how he loves the creator of the show,
James Garrett, and how they came to know each other. This show
is one all visitors like (or LOVE) as you can read in other
reviews. It does not matter if you are familiar with John Denver’s
music or not, the songs and the beautiful way they are presented
make a believer out of everyone who visits the show. Most people
go back to the show time after time after time – and that
says it all right there. Each show feels and unfolds differently!
And yet, rest assured, included each time are those wonderful
John Denver songs that James Garrett, Jim Glaspy and Randy Plummer
play to perfection on the s! tand up bass, Dobro and a plethora
of guitars while singing their hearts out.
C.J. Newsome brings a sparkle to the stage when she sings her
duets and solos. C.J. has a sweet voice and the cutest cowgirl
outfits I must add. Sometimes C.J.'s new little daughter visits
and James will introduce her from the seats. The show has a
family feel. James & his band all love what they do and
it is apparent. Sit in the first or 2nd row and you can almost
reach out and touch their guitar strings. It is fun to watch
their fingers fly! There are only about 5 rows in the Little
Opry Theater, which makes for an up close and personal experience.
There’s no sitting 25 rows back in this theater and getting
out your binoculars like you would have to do in the huge theaters!
The Little Opry Theater is the perfect place for the John Denver
Tribute show. Get your vacation “locked and loaded”
on the calendar and head to the John Denver Tribute show as
often as you can and soooon. It is so much fun.
This show should win the Best Tribute Show or the Best Morning
Show in 2011 most definitely.

Even though the show was at 10:00 AM all singers, musicians,
and background singers were personable and enthusiastic. I like
the setting because the theater was small and intimate.
James Garrett's musical tribute to John Denver was excellent,
and he did amazingly well considering he had a sore throat.
It was truly a walk down memory lane to once again hear all
of the songs that John Denver wrote, performed, and made him
one of the musical "greats".
What a shame that his talent and joy of performing was cut
short by his untimely death.
Thanks for a great time!

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
This show is truly a "must see". The venue is in
an intimate theater that seats perhaps 200 people, with Garrett
singing and playing 6 and 12 string guitars as he performs most
of the memorable songs from John Denver that we have grown to
love. The background music is from two outstanding musicians,
one on dog-house bass, and the other on acoustic guitar, banjo
and dobro. Garrett and his background musicians put on a sparkling,
energetic, and delightful performance that makes every single
member of the audience feel as one with John Denver and his
memorable talent.
This is the second time I have attended the show, and the next
time I'm back in Branson, I will most certainly attend again.
I would like to make special mention of the bass player, Darryl
(I think I have his name correct) Plummer. He interacts with
each and every member of the audience and has outstanding stage
"presence". In addition to that, he has a strong vocal
talent and is exceptional on the upright bass.
Overall, it is the best show in Branson, and I have seen most
of them. You will not regret attending "A Tribute to John
Denver".

We thoroughly enjoyed James Garrett's Tribute to John Denver
show. We were glad to find out that it wasn't going to be an
impersonation show. John's unique voice would be hard to duplicate.
John's music has spanned the decades and James is doing a wonderful
job of keeping John's legacy alive.
The "behind the scene" stories were enjoyable and
brought back memories of stories that John Denver told on different
television appearances. I also have to say a few words about
James' backup musicians. Their original songs and expert performance
made the show even more enjoyable.
Living near Branson, I'm sure we will come back again, if only
to sing along to some of our old favorites...We rarely get to
hear "Grandma's Featherbed" anymore. Keep up the great
work, James!

James is still fighting a cough or allergy, and his voice has
not been up to his usual standard, but I watched several other
couples at the show and they were mesmerized.
This show continues to be the very best show in Branson, even
more so if you are just comparing against morning shows.
Unless you just can't stand John Denver's music, you will be
absolutely blessed by going to this show. James continues to
find new songs of John's that are just wonderful to listen too.
Last year he added the beautiful song Whispering Jesse which
has now become my favorite, and a fun western song called Me
and My Uncle. A month or two ago he introduced A Song For All
Lovers, and this could move to my new favorite spot. Today was
a great show because after his first 4 songs he just turned
it to the audience and asked for requests. He played all 4 of
my requests and every other song requested, plus he still threw
in a couple more of his favorites.
Randy, C J and Jim make up the supporting cast and each add
a great relief performance for James. If you want a show where
you just lean back and listen to a performance that will relax
and sooth you, rather than be blasted back against your seat
this is IT!!!
The Little Opry in the IMAX is the most intimate theatre you
can find, and the perfect setting for this show. My sincere
thanks to all involved in putting on this show.

An intimate experience with a perfect representative of John
Denver.
The music was performed beautifully, and the guitar work was
exceptional. We all felt like we were a part of the performance
and that we could actually be sitting in front of John Denver.
The stories of events in the life of John Denver made us appreciate
more of this great singer and composer's legacy. James Garrett's
friendship with John seems to have given him the ability to
understand the emotions behind each song and to relay that feeling
to us in a manner that I am sure would have been appreciated
by John himself.
For any John Denver fans (and I don't know anyone who doesn't
like at least some of his music) this is a "must see".

I saw advertisements for Branson on TV and went to look at
the website. WOW!, one of the first things I saw was A Tribute
to John Denver! That's what drew me to Branson.
I am huge John Denver fan and what a great day it was to find
a show that starred a personal friend of John's. No regrets
about driving 7 1/2 hours to see the wonderful James Garrett
share his stories and knowledge of John Denver. What a wonderful
experience it was! James interaction with the audience is like
you are a guest in his living room. James is not trying to impersonate
John, but does an awesome job of sharing all of his music from
his most popular to the ones that were unknown to many of his
fans. He shared with us when he (John) wrote some of them and
what was going on with John at the time he wrote them. It was
as if we had gained a much more personal connection with John
himself.
We told James that West Virginia University stadium sings "Country
Roads" when their football team wins and was a little disappointed
that he didn't sing that song. He shared with us that he typically
includes that song in his show, but he had been bothered by
a cough and was concerned he may not be able to hit a couple
of notes. (like I would have actually noticed) So, he invited
us back to see his Tribute to George Strait Show and he'd sing
"Country Roads" for us.
We came back the next night, he remembered us and shared with
the audience that he "forgot" to sing "Country
Roads" when we were there for his morning show and he'd
promised us he'd sing it for us. So, during what would have
been the intermission for the show, he did not take the intermission;
He stayed on stage and asked US to pick out our 3 favorite John
Denver songs and he'd sing them for us. Our own little John
Denver Concert during the " Tribute to George Strait."
Then he and spent some time chatting with us after the show!
THANK YOU, James for making our 1st time vacation experience
to Branson VERY SPECIAL! !!

My friend and I continue to come back every year to see James
Garrett perform a "Tribute to John Denver." James
captures his audience with the songs and the stories that he
tells about John Denver. His sense of humor blends in with his
band, and he engages his audience in conversations.
We continue to keep going back to see this show because James
gives 100% every time. James had been having a rough time with
his voice, but that didn't stop him from giving a fantastic
performance. He sang all the songs that were requested including
"Calypso" which has some tough notes! Sometimes he
will do a 2 1/2 hour show just so he can get to the requests
that the audience wanted. You can tell that he loves what he
does and he doesn't want to stop!
The theater itself is very personal and the people are friendly.
The gal who takes the tickets is very accommodating and does
a wonderful job.

James Garrett's Tribute to John Denver was one of our favorite
shows.
The main reason was it was basic talent that was presented
on a one-to-one basis. James was not in the best of health but
his "the show must go on" attitude gave the audience
a deep appreciation for his love of music and John Denver. The
theater gives each one of the audience a great seat.
I especially appreciated the knowledge and history he had of
John Denver. I would definitely recommend this show to anyone

From the moment I stepped into the Little Opry Theater I felt

I will be visiting again in October and cannot wait to see

If you enjoy John Denver's music you will certainly enjoy the
show. The many stories shared was a blessing and James made
you feel like you met John Denver and family.
One of the best shows in Branson.
Made you have a smile on your face the rest of the day.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
James Garrett and company is without doubt the absolute best
show in Branson this season in my opinion.
James' interaction with the audience is unique, partially due
to the theatre venue but also just him. The two time Grammy
winners talent is incredible.
His friendship with and shared knowledge of John Denver makes
the whole experience one to remember. We returned twice more
the week we were in town and every show was more complete as
we got to know this gentleman and the various sides to his personality
and ministries.
The second show turned out to be a total request performance
with a feisty audience clamoring for more. Interesting just
how different an unscripted interactive can build the absolute
best memories.
The next best part is just how much this performer sounds like
John Denver as he relives and recreates the poems set to music
that he constantly reminds was John's gift and talent.
If you enjoy this style your trip to Branson is incomplete
without a visit.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
This show is now one of my favorites!
I have been in Branson for almost 2 years and have wanted to
see this show, but had not done so until now. James Garret is
very talented vocally and on the guitar. He also has a knack
for interaction with the audience. The show is a breath of fresh
air, partially because of the great songs and partially because
of the talent of James and his cast.
I always enjoy Randy Plummer; he is not only talented, but
also cheerful. CJ and Jim are also very talented and add dimension
to the show. I liked the fact that James did some songs that
were not hits, such as "Home Grown Tomatoes." James
had lots of stories about John Denver, which makes the show
even more interesting. He also told some history about some
of the songs.
You are in for a treat.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
We actually saw this show twice in the same week because we
were so impressed by James and his obvious love and respect
for the talent and music of John Denver.
All of the familiar songs were done as well as the "gems"
as James calls them, the wonderful ones that weren't as popular,
but nevertheless wonderful music.
He told many stories about how the songs were inspired, etc.
We also enjoyed James singing one or two gospel songs-they were
equally beautiful to listen to.
His ability to connect with the audience, communicate the heart
of John Denver, and share some of his own heart and assions
as well, all made for a most memorable and outstanding show!
There were 4 of us in our group and we all agreed this was
the best show in Branson! We bought some CD's and are now enjoying
listening to them at home! Thank you James Garrett!
Our only suggestion is to control the temperature--we all froze,
and we were told everyone always does!

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
We are from Franklin, Virginia, and we had been looking forward
to our trip to Branson for years. Once we got there, we asked
local people and they highly recommended some shows to us.
Our first day there, we saw not only a Tribute to John Denver,
but because it was so good, we also saw A Tribute to George
Strait and a Tribute to Hank Williams. We saw four shows in
one day.
We fell in love with James Garrett and Tim Hadler, and we plan
to come to their shows every time we are in the Branson area!!!
In addition to their talent, we loved the small auditorium,
the friendly atmosphere, the moderate sound (not too loud),
and the type of music that they played.
We were inspired by the things that James Garrett said about
the children's home that he supports, as well as the things
that Tim Hadler said about God and his faith in Jesus Christ.
Both of these men were inspiring and very talented and made
their shows the very best that we saw while we were in Branson.
If I had to pick one of the three shows as being the very best,
I would have to pick the John Denver tribute. I have always
been a John Denver fan, and James Garrett was a perfect "John
Denver."

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
The show was mostly John Denver songs performed by James Garrett.
The songs are done in the same style that John Denver did them.
The Theater is small and intimate--providing for informal banter
between the performers and the audience. Songs were mixed with
interesting personal stories about John Denver, based on Jimmy's
friendship with John Denver.
The other band members--Randy Plummer and Jim Glaspy--are talented
musicians who added much to the show. Their individual songs
were very well done music wise and with personality and humor.
All of the performers genuinely enjoyed playing their music
for us and playing together as a group. The highlight of the
show was, of course, the great John Denver songs--both #1 hits
as well as lesser known songs.
We enjoyed the performers so much that we also attended their
other tribute show. More importantly, after spending the rest
of the week attending m! any fine shows in Branson, we decided
to attend the John Denver Tribute show again on Saturday morning
as the grand finale to our trip.
After the show we met Jimmy Garrett and had a very nice conversation
with him plus having our picture taken with him. This show was
definitely the HIGHLIGHT of our very enjoyable week in Branson.
We enjoyed every song at both shows, including the songs performed
by Randy Plummer and Jim Glaspy. (In fact, we bought five CD's
so we can still enjoy their music now that we are back home.)
PS: Turn off your Cell Phone if you don't want to become a
humorous part of the show.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
This is an amazing show that always ends with a standing ovation
by eager audience members who have just been thoroughly entertained
for sometimes 3 hours! The time always goes by so fast that
2-3 hours pass in a real snap. I love it when the show lasts
3 hours! John Denver would say this show is very “far
out!” and a special way to carry on his one of a kind
music, for sure.
This is a very special show that honors John Denver and his
music like no other show can. At the show, visitors sitting
around me always look relaxed and many smile as if they are
in a “John Denver Tribute Show by James Garrett”
kind of HEAVEN they didn’t know existed before –
at least not until they bought that little ticket at the Imax
counter and entered the Little Opry Theater!
The day I attended, the audience members looked comfortable
and many enthralled, just like I was. At this show you can expect
wonderful John Denver songs....beautifully played on Dobro,
guitar and stand up bass by James Garrett and his band Randy
Plummer and Jim Glaspy. CJ Newsom sings duets with James or
other special songs and provides a sparkly female presence to
round out the show with her angelic voice.
The stage is uncluttered and simple. The Little Opry Theater
at the Imax is cute and small with seats wonderfully close to
the music as it unfolds before your eyes/ears...so close, in
fact, that you can almost reach out and grab those John Denver
songs as the music wraps itself around you and the theater walls
and whisks you away from life as you knew it before the show
started. Ah, and what a wonderful get away it is! The harmonies
are clear and melodious. The difficult songs are played by the
talented band like there is nothing to it! They make it look
so easy! James tells stories behind each song that he sometimes
learned straight from his former friend, John Denver.
The show is wonderfully interactive and fun. If an audience
cell phone rings, James might stop the show and answer it just
for fun and leave everyone laughing at the winding conversation
or his message taking skills! I sat by a lady who became so
engrossed in the emotions of the songs and the presentation
of the show that she kept whispering to me, “I’ve
just got to hear Annie’s Song!”
The show was nearing an end and feeling her need to hear that
wonderful song, I whispered back, “you better yell it
out, James will sing it!” (of course I wanted to hear
it too!). She got her wish and we all enjoyed it along with
the already 3 hours worth of unbelievable John Denver songs
and harmonies.
When the songs start to flow, I find the show brings us audience
members together as if we’d known each other forever.
James and his band play their instruments so well it can be
mesmerizing, to say the least. I’d be happy with JUST
their singing or JUST their instruments playing, but put the
voices and instruments together and it is, indeed, a little
bit of “John Denver Tribute Show by James Garrett”
HEAVEN!
This show should win Best Morning Show or Best Tribute Show
2011.
Thanks James & Band for this sublime show experience and
a little piece of heaven on earth (in Branson).

I thought it was a great show. James Garrett is a great singer
and does John Denver's music a great honor by singing it.
He takes requests and sings all of them even if he goes over
what would be a normal show time. Then he and his band have
a meet and greet after the show. I would definitely go back
to see it again. It was worth getting up a bit earlier to see
it.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
We thoroughly enjoyed the John Denver Tribute by James Garrett
and his band.
During the course of the morning, he covered a wide range of
John Denver songs, lesser known gems as well as the familiar
hits. He even took time to take (and play) requests from the
audience in the second part of the show. I requested an old
song from James’s days with The Kendall’s "Heaven's
Just A Sin Away" and it was the first request he played.
James was a close personal friend of Mr. Denver, and he takes
time between the songs to talk about John the man as well as
the musician. Sometimes he can retell the story behind the song
he is about to sing, or John's feelings about various topics.
It really makes a difference when the entertainer was actually
a friend of the person they are paying tribute to. I'm sure
Mr. Denver would be proud and honored to know his friend James
was helping to keep his music and legacy alive to fans of all
ages. James is a skillful singer as well as a masterful guitarist,
and his band including Randy Plummer is first-rate and plays
each song with great skill as well as loyalty to the style intended
by Mr. Denver.
What I like best is James DOES NOT try to imitate or impersonate
John Denver at all. He just simply plays each and every song
in his own fashion, but still true to the style we all have
grown to love from John Denver himself.
The stage is close to the audience, which makes for an intimate
setting, superb for this type of concert. James also took time
after the performance to meet and greet as well as thank all
those who attended. It is one of our favorite shows to attend
when in Branson, and we plan to be in attendance often whenever
we visit your city.

First time visiting Branson and first show to see while here.
The theater is small and there are no bad seats. James Garrett
did a great job of singing John Denver songs true to Denver

a very up-close and personal show.
Would recommend anyone who enjoys John Denver's music to go

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
It was great to sit in the 2nd row during the John Denver Tribute
Show when John Denver's former guitarist, Steve Weisberg, was
a guest playing in the show with the regular members of the
band.
The show was fun and it seemed each song was played as James
Garrett (the show star) thought of the songs that would showcase
his guest on the guitar - not all planned out but more spontaneous
- creating a special energy. Guest Steve Weisberg had fun joking
with 2 relatives who sat to my right and drove quite a while
to see him in the show.
The John Denver Tribute show stars James Garrett who plays
a variety of guitars most skillfully - it is awesome. Randy
Plummer plays standup bass and Jim Glaspy plays Dobro and was
the Texas State Champion. CJ Newsome sings beautifully and compliments
everything going on in her own right. It was beautiful to hear
the well known Denver songs and the less known songs that James
calls "gems."
The atmosphere is laid back yet upbeat and the music timelessly
played. They all seem to really enjoy what they do and there
is a positive energy in the air I do not find at any other Branson
shows. I got to hear Rocky Mountain High, Annie's Song, and
many others back to back superbly played and harmonized.
The ticket lady greeter seems nice and helps out with many
things. This show should win Best Tribute Show or Best Morning

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)

John Denver has always been my husband and my favorite singer
and since we never saw him in person, we had "Rocky Mountain
High" expectations for this show. "We were NOT disappointed".
James Garrett will from now on be our John Denver. This performance
came as close to seeing John in person as we could have expected.
We were told the show was two hours but he and his band performed
for three. James Garrett, Jim Glaspy and Randy Plummer where
a perfect fit. They performed lots of Denver's songs along with
some gospel, blue grass, and even some Bach on the banjo. Jim
Glaspy is an out standing musician and is good enough to have
his own show.
Garrett said that he loves to perform each show and you could
feel his love for his music in every song he played. We also
agree and believe that John Denver would say James is the perfect
performer to carry on his tradition.
We loved the performance so much that we went back to see their
afternoon show featuring the music of George Strait.
Thank you guys for the show,

This was an awesome show featuring John Denver songs, many
that were not very popular but should have been as well as many
of the more popular favorites.
James Garrett did a great job in telling us little known facts
about John Denver's life and songs as well as singing them.
His rapport with the audience was up close and personal and
the small theater was very friendly feeling.
The performance lasted almost 3 hrs with only a small intermission
and there was opportunity to visit with James and his band as
well.
We were made to feel like friends rather than just one of a
huge audience.
This show is well worth seeing and the best that I saw during

What a great show!
The little band was the best on all instruments. James Garrett
did so much justice to the John Denver hits. I also thoroughly
enjoyed all his background information on John Denver, his life
and family. The female vocalist was very much a plus to the
whole show.
Great voice and choice of songs!
An added plus to the whole show was several songs by the owner
of the theater and a friend of James Garrett.
The show ran over almost an hour but, that was the great part.
Neither the performers or the audience were in any hurry to
leave such a great show.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
A Tribute to John Denver is not only the Best Morning Show
in Branson, but in my opinion, The Best Show! This is James
Garrett’s fourth year entertaining audiences with his
skillful guitar playing, his accomplished vocals, and his delightful
humor. That James is a gifted musician is obvious to anyone
who sees his show, and he uses his gift to honestly and sincerely
pay tribute to my favorite singer-song writer, John Denver.
Having seen John Denver live many times, I appreciate the fact
that James does not try to imitate John. Instead he sings the
known and unknown Denver songs with a passion and honest interpretation
of the music. When he invites the audience to sing along on
“Country Roads” or “Annie’s Song”,
or “Back Home Again”, the whole audience sings!
I think we forget the impact an artist has had on our lives
until sitting in a show filled with so many musical memories.
Today was the third day James had John’s former band
member, Steve Weisberg, sit in with him. James loves having
friends and other entertainers visit his show. He is not afraid
to share the stage. James calls his band “The smallest
band in Branson”. Randy Plummer plays upright bass and
sings harmony and gospel. Jim Glaspy plays guitar, dobro, banjo,
and sings harmony and bluegrass. These two musicians are worthy
of being the Best Instrumentalist in Branson! They adapt to
any visitor on stage, they never know what song James is singing
next because James never uses a play list or script. Randy’s
smile will put a smile on your face, and Jim will astonish and
amaze you with his ability. They may be the smallest band in
Branson, but they will absolutely thrill you with their individual
talents and backup to James. CJ Newsome adds the female touch
and does a beautiful job singing “Fly Away” with
James, adding comedy to “Grandma’s Feather Bed”,
and soloing on “! Three Wooden Crosses” and “Cowboy’s
Sweetheart”. James appreciates the talents of his band
mates and allows them to shine on stage.
You will not be bored with this show! It is a 2 hour show that
usually lasts 2 ½ hours, occasionally 3 hours. It is
known as “The longest two hour show in Branson!”
You will enjoy the informal, laid-back style and the stories
behind John’s songs. For four years I have stated, “You
may not be a John Denver fan, but by the time you leave this
show you will either be a John Denver fan, a James Garrett fan,
or a fan of both.” This show is a fabulous way to start
your day! James Garrett is brilliant, and his show is a wonderment.
Not only is it the Best Morning Show in Branson, it is The Best
Show, and in my opinion, James Garrett should be honored as
Branson’s Best/Favorite Headliner.

I saw this show because my girlfriend suggested we see it.
She's seen it before and bragged it up so much that I took a
chance and went with her.
I've always loved John Denver and I play his music on my acoustic
guitar. I didn't think that anyone could possibly honor John
Denver's talent and musical ability, but James in an exception
to that. I really like the fact that James doesn't try to look
like John or sound like him. He simply plays his music and sings
his songs and does a fantastic job at it. I walked out of that
show wanting to hear more.
I will definitely return to Branson and see this show again.
I'm not much for shows. I like camping, hiking, and outdoors
things. My girlfriend sort of had to drag me to this show and
I am so very thankful that she did.
It was the greatest show I've seen in a long, long time. He

This was a very special show with special guest Steve Weisberg,
John Denver's lead guitar player and co-writer. The friendship
and respect for John and his music is evident in the stories
told by James Garrett and Steve Weisberg. Both of these artists
shared personal stories of time spent with Denver at his home
in Aspen, Colorado, and with his friends and family. This is
truly a tribute to John Denver in every way.
What Denver was all about was conveyed to the audience through
the songs and stories. That's what makes this show a real tribute.
Add the incredible talents of Jim Glaspy on guitar, dobro and
banjo, Randy Plummer on Bass, singing his gospel songs and C.J.
Newsome and her great singing, and you have a perfectly rounded
show. The show was over three hours, giving everyone their money's
worth. I've also seen his Tribute to George Strait, which was
great as well. James Garrett is the only artist in Branson headlining
two successful shows. I believe that fact alone should garner
him favorite headliner. I vote the John Denver Tribute show
best morning show. I vote Jim Glaspy best instrumentalist as
well.

My mother, husband and I came to Branson to visit family and
attended the John Denver Tribute Show. Steve Weisberg, John
Denver's lead guitarist was guest starring on the show and what
a spectacular show it was! I very much enjoyed visiting with
Steve after the show. James Garrett headlines an extremely talented
cast including Branson veterans Randy Plummer who we used to
see perform at the Plummer Family Music Show. Jim Glaspy is
the best flat top guitar player, holding the title of Texas
State Champion and National Dobro champion. CJ Newsome, also
a veteran of the Branson music industry, is one of the best
female vocalist in Branson.
The show has won the Best Morning Show in Branson 3 years in

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
It was a very professionally done show with many songs and
stories about John Denver and personal remembrances of his life
and touring with him.
James Garrett and company were very much like John Denver in
delivery and style of performance. This particular day one of
John Denver background arrangers and song writer friend, Steve
Wiesberg joined the group with great guitar solos and improvisation
in his own right. Instead of a two hour show, we were delighted
with a three hour show that included many of the 149 Denver
hits and some extras.
James Garrett actually sang some of the high notes clearer
and truer to pitch than John Denver! His string bass player
was a member of the famous Plummer family singers with a clear
strong voice of his own, Randy Plummer. My husband and I enjoyed
this show better than the five other shows that we have been
privileged to see while in Branson.
The gospel music that was included shows a strong faith in
God which is a theme in every Branson show and I hope that this
town is blessed in the future for not forgetting from where
our talent really starts.

Amazing! I have always regretted not being able to have seen
John Denver live in concert and now I feel I have come as close
as I can, short of being in heaven! (Where I assume John is
still performing to crowds of angels!)The close, personal interaction
with the audience was most appreciated. Having Steve Weisberg
, John's lead guitar player performing live with James was really
the icing on the cake. The stories they told about working with
John and the true love they reflected for John and his music
just drew all of us in. The performance was over 2 1/2 hours,
and I'm sure most of us would have just stayed glued to our
seats for all of John's 146 songs if that had been possible.
This show should be one of the featured ones in Branson, as
it truly exemplifies sharing the love of country music with
others. It should not just be part of a "drop down menu"!!
The choice of songs, the introduction to them and comments
personalizing their experiences with John made this an "I
will always remember today!" performance.
They did not go "over the top" with excessive patriotism
at the end of the show-they did welcome and thank any veterans
present, but did not make any other non-Americans like ourselves
feel "out of place" here in Branson, as has happened
at all the other shows. When Toronto, where we are from, came
up in the show as a place John had recorded, and we cheered,
we were actually welcomed and engaged in conversation.
Thanks so much James, Steve and randy for an amazing morning
-your show will be the first on the list we recommend to friends
visiting Branson -and of course when we return to Branson.

My sister-in-law has been telling me how wonderful the "John
Denver Tribute Show" is in Branson, Missouri for the past
several years. I'm not really a huge John Denver fan, but I
went to see this show with my husband due to all the great things
I heard about it from my sister-in-law. It was the best money
we spent in Branson.
Mr. Garrett is a wonderful singer and guitar player. He also
has such a great stage presence. He tells stories about John
that I'd never heard before which were actually very interesting.
He and his band members also make the audience laugh which only
adds to the amazing talent they all have. I've never been in
such a small theatre, but I love how it felt as though I was
in my own living room. I also loved how James would talk to
anyone in the audience.
I also thought it was really cool how the band members AND
James were willing to talk to the audience members after the
show was over. He was so friendly and was willing to let us
take all the pictures we wanted. It was an amazing show.
I think it was by far the best show we saw in Branson and I
think it should win "The Best Show in Branson" : period.

I've seen this show several times in the past three years and
it is just as wonderful as it was the first time I saw it. James
Garrett has an amazing voice, is an excellent guitarist, and
he has a special gift of being able to interact with the audience.
The personal stories he tells about John Denver only add to
the tremendous amount of talent on his stage.
I put off having ankle surgery just to fly to Branson to hear
Steve Weisberg play with James. It was well worth the trip.
Hearing stories from one of John's original band members made
the show even more special. The talent in this show is so amazing
that I feel this show should not only win the "Best Morning
Show" in Branson, but it should win the best "Headliner
Show".
This show is the only reason I keep returning to Branson year
after year. There are a few other great shows in Branson which
I enjoy, but no other show is as wonderful as the "John

I thought I'd seen about every version of this show possible.
Then yesterday, I caught the show with former John Denver lead
guitarist Steve Weisberg. Now that was a concert. James and
Steve shared great stories with the audience while taking us
on a magical 3 hour journey through John Denver's music. Steve
played the secondary guitar parts that he wrote for John's songs
making for another great performance by James and the gang.
Randy Plummer sang his gospel songs, C.J. Newsome did some
great yodeling, Jim Glaspy played every instrument on the stage
with precision and James hit all those great high notes one
expects to hear on songs like "Rocky Mountain High"
and "Calypso". Steve even sang a couple of songs he
wrote that John recorded. "Christmas For Cowboys",
which was on the Rocky Mountain Christmas album and "It's
up to You", which was on the Back Home Again album.
Amazing Show!
I think his little show should not only be Best Morning Show,
but Best Show all around. James should be Best Headliner and
Jim Glaspy should be Best Instrumentalist.

Yesterday, my friend and I decided to go to the John Denver
Tribute. It is in a "dinky" theatre, but the audience
benefits at this, because it seems a lot like a jam session.
The musicians seem like they are there to tell us stories about
the past work of the tributee.
Yesterday, we had an exceptional show, because Steve Weisburg,
a man who used to play with John Denver, visited and played
guitar unbelievably. The show went a little longer than usual,
but James is very personable to the audience, and followed through
with "small talk" with the crowd.
Anyway, I work at Silver Dollar City and see hundreds of musicians,
but the guys in this crew know what they are doing!

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
James Garrett is known for his heartfelt tribute to his friend,
John Denver, and for introducing audiences to John’s family
members and band members. Today James shared his stage with
Steve Weisberg. John Denver asked Steve to be his new lead guitar
player on the eve of what became John’s biggest years
(1973-77). Steve fit in perfectly with James and his band of
two, Randy Plummer and Jim Glaspy. The fact that they had never
rehearsed is powerful proof that these men are extraordinarily
talented professionals with a detailed knowledge and love of
John’s music.
Steve delighted the audience with his own personal stories
of John, his sense of humor, and the joy of playing on stage
with James. He appeared to be having the time of his life! Steve
explained that John’s shows were very structured and he
always played sitting down. He stated that playing with James
“is like coming home. We keep it loose.” Steve played
the original guitar/dobro pieces he wrote on “Back Home
Again”, “Annie’s Song”, and “Poem,
Prayers, and Promises”. He also played on songs John never
let him play on, such as “Like a Sad Song” and “My
Sweet Lady”. He sang “Christmas for Cowboys”,
which he wrote and recorded with John.
James enjoys engaging the audience and keeping the atmosphere
relaxed, comfortable and friendly. He is also known for having
the longest 2 hour show in Branson. This show lasted 3 hours!
A Tribute to John Denver has been awarded Best Morning Show
in Branson three years in a row. I think the show is very deserving
of that award and James is definitely the Best/Favorite headliner.
He performs his John Denver Show 6 days a week from March through
December at 10:00, and he stars in “Strait Country”,
a tribute to George Strait, 6 days a week from March through
December at 5:00. He surrounds himself with two of the best
musicians in town, and loves sharing the stage with other performers
who drop in. The quality of James Garrett’s talent, the
number of shows he performs, his sense of humor, and his sincere
appreciation of everyone who attends his shows certainly qualifies
him for Branson’s Best/Favorite Headliner.
Steve Weisberg will sit in with James two more days. I’ll
be at both those shows loving the fact that these two men are
keeping John’s music and spirit alive.

We really enjoyed this particular show--MUCH MORE than the
one the night before at another theater where the voices tried
to impersonate the late singers. James, Randy, etc. were very
genuine, relaxed, and involved the audience. They were all very
talented and made the performance an excellent one. We even
got to "meet" the new baby of one of the performers
(can't remember her name), as well as the IMAX owner, and were
able to talk with most of the performers during intermission
and afterward.
We purchased two of James Garrett's CDs which we enjoyed listening
to on the way home. We certainly would (and ALREADY HAVE) recommended
this show and the IMAX theater to others. If we had had more
time and money, we would have gone to others at the IMAX Theater.
Thanks to the owner for letting James Garrett perform John Denver!
It was also nice to know that James knew John Denver, and he
shared some personal stories about him.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
This was our first visit to Branson. My wife and I enjoy the
music of John Denver and listened to his songs on the drive
out to Branson from Arizona.
James Garrett was outstanding with his rendition of the Denver
hits and "gems" as he called them (songs that never
made the "Top 100"). Garrett's stories of how a particular
song came to be made the words that much more meaningful. The
two men backing him up were very entertaining. The young female
doing gospel music was OK. Garrett displayed an amazing energy
for a 10:00 AM show. He got the audience into it early on.
I believe the "Tribute to John Denver" featuring
James Garrett was one of the highlights of our first visit to
Branson.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
The John Denver show should be Branson's Best Morning Show
and I vote James Garrett Best Headliner.
James has great stage presence and presents John's music with
honesty, making the songs real with great background stories.
James sings, plays guitar and is the master of ceremonies. Randy
Plummer, from the Plummer Family Show that was in Branson for
18 years, plays the upright bass and sings gospel songs beautifully.
He brings 37 years of stage experience to the show. Jim Glaspy
played everything on the stage including the dobro. He was kind
enough to take the time to show me some things about an instrument
I'd never heard live before. That made my day. This remarkable
trio played John's music without impersonating. The music was
played flawlessly and James hit the high notes with ease. The
Little Opry is the perfect venue for this show.
As James says: "the only theater in town that you can
put your feet on the stage." You don't want to miss this
show.
What a great way to start your morning, guaranteed to leave
you with a smile.

On arrival to the city of Branson, we decided to go to a 10
a.m. show. The show was a Tribute to John Denver. We were very
surprised how good the performance was. James Garrett was extremely
talented also was the group he sang with. My husband also plays
the guitar and sings this music so we were very familiar with
the music. We would rate it excellent; it was so good we bought
tickets to listen to his second show on Friday of the same week.
The show was George Strait. It was also an excellent show.
We would definitely see both shows again on another trip to
Branson. He was very entertaining, had good variety and Randy
with Jim made a great show.

I am really not particularly a John Denver fan, but my group
wished to see this show.
I was so impressed with the stories as well as the wide range
of John's songs that were presented. It was in a very cozy and
small theater in the I-Max Complex. The stories were from one
that knew John in a personal way and was willing to take the
time to present them to us in a fashion that made you feel like
you were with these two friends just talking about old times.
He also gave quite a bit of history of the songs as they were
presented and told how they fit in with the particular time
in John's life when the songs were written and put out for his
fans to enjoy.
I will make it a point to highly suggest that friends go by
and see this show and I will return to it the next time I visit
Branson.

We toured Branson in Sept. 2009, and saw this show, quite by
accident, as we missed the IMAX movie we had planned to see.
This was the only show we returned to see at our second visit
this year.
The theatre is very small, giving the observer a close up experience
with the performers. The performers were very entertaining and
'likable' people. James does an awesome job of both singing
John's songs, and recollecting experiences with him.
The back-up musicians are also very good. I would return to
this show every trip to Branson!

Great show!
Interaction with the audience was fantastic! James Garrett
had many personal stories about his knowledge of and relationship
with John Denver. His selection of songs was very good and he
was very accommodating taking requests from the audience.
Should be the top morning show in Branson.
Auditorium and seating were conducive to a pleasant, personal
experience with the performers. The band and accompanying singer
were outstanding. The musical talent was superior. the guitarist
and bass player added immensely to the overall show.
I would recommend the show to anyone who knows and appreciates
John Denver's music. James' knowledge of John Denver's life
and personality were enlightening. It was very nostalgic to
listen to music of a generation ago.

Jim Garrett paid a wonderful homage to John Denver and his
music.
The musicians that played alongside Jim were exceptional in
their own rite. What a treat to hear all of them. This show
covered a range of Denver songs which true followers of John
would especially appreciate.
The fact that the show was longer than most in Branson and
also included all requests from the audience provided a real
value and special treat for all.
It was one of the most true tribute shows we've seen and showed
great respect for the artist, songwriter and honorable human
being that John Denver was.

This is the second time I have been to see A Tribute to John
Denver. I enjoyed this show both times that I saw it. James
is so interesting when he tells the stories about John Denver.
Last week when we were there a very special thing happened.
My husband and our 2 year old grandson was waiting to pick us
up from the show. While a special guest was singing to us in
the theater, my husband met James out in the hallway. James
invited them to come in for the remainder of the show. Of course
our grandson started talking and James invited him up to the
stage for a special surprise. Our 2 year old grandson went up
on stage and got handfuls of candy. He is still talking about
getting candy at the "show"!
I have been to many shows in Branson and every one has been
great, but I have never had such a special feeling when leaving
a show. It may be the littlest theater in Branson, but it has
the biggest heart of any show around!

James Garrett was wonderful and his 2 band members were great
too.
I liked the fact that there were no costume changes, except
for hats being removed for Gospel songs, and no strobe lights.
The songs brought back so many memories and were done so well.
The tiny theater was neat too. The four people involved were
just so sincere and so talented. James sharing his memories
of John Denver added a lot to the show also.
The theater owner coming out and singing was neat too and the
little baby girl was so precious. Please don't change a thing
about the show.

This was an excellent show.
You not only got to hear many of your old favorite John Denver
songs - but you also got some background and facts on each of
the songs. I also enjoyed listening to and watching the accompanying
guitarist/banjo player. The fact that he holds the title as
the Texas State Champion Bluegrass picker is a definite plus!
He also played a song on request for us; one that he said he
hadn't played in over twenty years - and he made it look pretty
easy! "Under The Double Eagle" is a pretty good challenge
for most seasoned pickers!
The show had good variety and was entertaining from the beginning
to the end. There were no dull spots in this show! I was also
impressed that this show lasted longer than most Branson shows....most
of them average about two hours.....this one was closer to three!
Great value for the money and excellent all around entertainment!

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
I believe the John Denver Tribute to be one of the best shows
in Branson.
I see this show every time I come to town. The show is always
different with various guests showing up on any given day. Yesterday,
James had some gals from the TLC TV show "19 Kids and Counting".
Deanna Duggar and Elaine Goslyn sang two gospel songs to the
delight of the audience. Some of the audience recognized them
from the TV show.
You can always count on a to notch performance from James Garrett,
Randy Plummer, C.J. Newsome, Jim Glaspy and the special guests
that show up from time to time. The owner, Paul Bluto, was also
singing yesterday and did a great job on a song he wrote called
"My Ozark Mountain Home". Jim Glaspy is amazing on
anything with strings and Randy Plummer sings his gospel music
with great passion. James Garrett is a great singer and front
man.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him win Entertainer of
the Year. The show has something for everyone and should definitely
be Branson's Morning show of the year.

Not only does the John Denver tribute show deliver the great
music of John Denver, you can also see great musicians such
as James Garrett, who actually knew John Denver.
James does a great job singing all of the John Denver songs.
He is not an imitator of John Denver; he is paying tribute to
a friend by keeping john's music alive. It is still relevant
today. You also get to enjoy fantastic music by Jim Glasby and
Karina Glasby, the bluegrass and gospel they perform is great.
Karina sings patsy cline songs and does a fantastic job. Jim
is a tremendous musician. He plays all kinds of instruments
and he has won awards and recognition for this.
Also you will hear Randy Plummer, part of the famous Plummer
family of Branson. he has been performing in Branson for over
30 years. He is an accomplished singer and songwriter and also
plays bass at the show.
Also in the show is CJ Newsom, and she can sing! In the show
and also sings back up and does a great job. James gives everyone
in the show a chance to sing and perform.

I believe the John Denver Tribute Show should be voted Best
Morning Show and James Garrett should be voted Best Entertainer.
I was amazed to see James and Randy Plummer keep an audience
entertained for two hours without any other instrumentation.
Jim Glaspy, the multi-instrumentalist, was out sick. It reminded
me of the time I saw John Denver do a solo performance in Denver
back in 1980. James has that same gift of relating to an audience
on a very personal level. It felt as though we were in his living
room, enjoying a private concert. James is the only artist I
know headlining two successful shows. I saw his George Strait
show and loved it as well. This show doesn’t need a comedian
as James has a great sense of humor with funny anecdotes added
at different points during the performance. Randy Plummer did
a great job singing his gospel music. I especially enjoyed "On
My Father's Side". C.J! .
Newsome was very enjoyable as always, singing a Randy Travis
song. I always recommend this show to my friends and people
I meet.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
I went to see the John Denver Tribute again yesterday and it
was a very special performance with just James Garrett and Randy
Plummer.
Jim Glaspy, the lead guitar player, was ill. It was amazing
to see them put on a two man show, keeping the audience engaged
for over two hours. At one point, the power went off as James
was singing Rocky Mountain High. Later in the show, he said
he felt bad that he didn’t finish the song and he did
it again to an appreciative audience. A gentleman from England
spoke to James from the audience, telling him that the same
thing occurred at a John Denver concert. He said that John also
did the song over. I've seen different versions of this show
and it is never quite the same.
I guess that's why I come back as often as I can to see it.
James Garrett's show is great no matter who he has playing with
him. I'm waiting for him to do a solo performance, and I'll
bet that will be just as great.

We live in Branson and have seen most all the tribute shows
here. James Garrett is undoubtedly one of the best entertainers
around.
He mixes it up with all the great songs sung by John Denver
and entertains the crowd with personal stories about John and
his Mother and family. James adds just enough laughter to the
show to keep you interested. His bass player could not look
like he was having anymore fun if he had his own show. He has
a contagious smile and wonderful voice. His guitarist is one
of the best we have ever heard.
As a resident of Branson, we have many visitors throughout

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
For the past four years, I have been trying to attend the John
Denver Tribute show at the Little Opry Theatre in Branson. On
Saturday, 9/11, I hit the jackpot! I saw the show on Saturday
and then again the following Monday before we left for home,
and each show exceeded my every expectation. The performers,
the venue, and the audience interaction made this a most memorable
experience. James Garrett is an awesome entertainer. His gentle
spirit and presentation of John’s songs brought tears
to my eyes more than once.
James opened the show with “Back Home Again,” one
of my favorite Denver tunes. As the show progressed, I was delighted
that I was able to repeat the words as James sang, even the
songs he referred to as Gems. I had always hoped to speak with
John Denver at some point, and being in the audience listening
to James share his stories of John made me feel as if I were
sitting in the same room with John.
I also loved the intimate setting. The Little Opry Theater
may be the smallest one in Branson, but the spirit and enthusiasm
exhibited by the cast and audience exceeded any concert I’ve
seen in larger venues. I’ve never been in a theater that
allowed the people in the front row to put their feet on the
stage! And where else could you have the star of the show answer
your cell phone (if you had forgotten to turn it off).
While I initially wanted to attend the Tribute because of my
love for John Denver, I was delighted to see the wide variety
of entertainment included in the performance. My favorite performance
(outside of the John Denver songs) was James’ performance
of “Praise His Name,” a song from his Acoustic Praise
CD. The message he shared through this music touched my heart
and made me very conscious of the fact that we all have so very
much to be thankful for.

My wife and I saw the show on the 13th. What a wonderful show.
Mr. Garrett stayed true to the John Denver music. The show was
full of warmth and respect for John Denver and his music. It
was wonderful singing along to the music to many of our favorite
Denver songs. There was a great feeling of warmth throughout
the show. We were entertained and felt comfortable.
It was also a treat to listen to the music and abilities of
the cast. We got to hear a bit of Hank Williams, Marty Robbins
and Patsy Cline thrown in to boot! And the musical ability of
the rest of the cast was outstanding. All of the songs were
true to the music.
But the show was clearly about the music of John Denver. We
look forward to returning to Branson in 2011, and will be sure
to catch the John Denver Tribute again.

Great show!
James knew John Denver personally so he has many John Denver
stories that enhance the experience. The small theater allows
for interaction with the audience and James' easy-going approach
in fielding and playing requests. If you close your eyes you
can imagine you are hearing John Denver.
The members of his supporting cast (Jim and Corinne) are very
talented musicians, instrumentally and vocally, who offer both
gospel and bluegrass selections. You will not find a finer musician
than Jim in all of Branson.
Three hours went by very quickly, I can certainly understand
why this has been the top morning show the past two years. I
plan to see James every time I visit Branson. Very, very, very

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
James Garrett did it again! What did he do? He won Branson's
best morning show again. That makes three times in a row he’s
accomplished it. That is an accomplishment that has never been
done before.
James Garrett does the morning show, “A Tribute to John
Denver” at the Lil Opry Theater, located in the IMAX Theater
Complex.
James started off four years ago with the smallest band performing
in the smallest theater in Branson, doubtful if any awards would
ever be won because he was going up against the big theaters
and the big guns in talent. But he pulled it off. How did he
do it?
There is a mixture of things James has done to create the best
morning show in Branson. The theater is a very small, intimate
and up close one where part of the audience can and do actually
rest their feet on the stage during the performance. James also,
in this small theatrical setting, becomes very close to the
audience as he spins tales of John Denver—the man and
his music. He tells those tales in a totally relaxed manner.
James is relaxed and so is his audience.
James also surrounds himself with some of Branson's top-flight
musicians. James is one of the very few performers who understand
the unwritten law; if you surround yourself with the finest
talent you can find, they are going to make you look pretty
darned good and in the process, create a winner of a show.
James never takes himself seriously. This is one man who is
totally comfortable in his own skin and the audience reacts
by being totally comfortable with James and his music.
James Garrett sings John Denver as John Denver would sing John
Denver. That, my friend, is the icing on the cake.
James Garrett we collectively salute you for a job well done
and awards well earned and most certainly well deserved.
Today, Thursday July 1st and also Friday and Saturday, James
Weisberg, John Denver’s original lead guitar player, will
be joining James in his tribute to John Denver. These are shows
you will not want to miss.

I've been to see James Garret 10 times over the years –
AND ENJOYED IT EACH TIME!
He always has it a little different. He's wonderful with the
audience, talking with them and asking for requests. He has
a wonderful sense of humor. His band is super also - Randy Plummer,
the man who plays all the different instruments, the female
singer all add to the enjoyment of the show.
I'm a big John Denver fan but I can honestly say I'm a bigger
fan of James Garret now. It's so interesting to hear all the
stories he has to tell about John Denver.
Every time I have company from out of town I take them to see

James' renditions of John's songs are great. I think I was
able to get to at least 30 of his shows this year.
There is not another show in Branson I go to more than twice
a year. James first half set now includes Shanghais Breezes,
Darcy Farrow and Perhaps Love, all beautiful songs that most
people have forgotten. Earlier this year he had Whispering Jesse
in his first half, another great but forgotten song, but now
someone has to request it in the second half, which is a problem
for me because I like to request Rhymes and Reasons.
James does a wonderful job paying tribute to John's music by
performing the songs as they were written. His friendship with
John also provides many interesting and insightful stories about
John as well. This is the perfect theatre for this show, they
are not trying to blast out the music, and the performances
of James, Randy, Jim and CJ will bring a soothing to your soul
and refresh your spirit. If you are a John Denver fan or if
you just want to hear wonderful, soothing and mellow music,
this should be your show.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
Being a huge John Denver fan, I didn’t know what to expect
and I was a bit of a skeptic.
I didn’t really think there was any musician that could
do John's music justice. As soon as James Garrett started singing,
I knew I was in for a great trip down memory lane. It was great
to hear those hit songs sung live again. James has that great
ability to connect with his audience, just like John. I enjoyed
the gospel and bluegrass music as well. Jim Glaspy is wonderful
on guitar, banjo and dobro and Randy Plummer was inspirational
with his gospel songs. There was a female singer, I think her
name was C.J., who did a great job singing as well. She did
a country song with some great yodeling. My favorite song in
the show was "Praise His Name", a gospel sung by James
Garrett.
This show doesn’t have the glitz that the big shows have,
but it makes up for it with raw talent.
I believe everyone that comes to Branson should see this show.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
The Tribute to John Denver show by James Garrett is one of
the best shows I've ever seen in Branson.
It is definitely the best I've seen this summer. James' interaction
with the audience is terrific! The coziness of the theatre is
perfect for a show like this. When you put James' talent along
with the musicians he has playing with him, you get a show with
wonderfully performed songs mixed with lots of humor, stories,
and audience participation. Whatever local performer may come
into the theatre during the performance, James asks them to
come to the stage and sing a song or share a story. This may
be planned but it certainly wasn't expected. It was a pleasant
surprise! Folks who have seen this show before have told me
this may happen. Their stories were slightly different than
my experience.
While I was there, the owner of the IMAX complex came in and
recited a wonderful poem and sang a couple! of gospel tunes.
It was GREAT!
I would highly recommend this show to anyone who's a fan of
great music, inspiring stories, all in a quaint, personal venue

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
I saw the John Denver Tribute Show yesterday, September 6,
2010 with my wife Carol and we were both completely blown away
by the talent contained on this small stage and so was everyone
else in the audience.
I didn't know what to expect from such a small theater with
a small band but I enjoyed this show SO MUCH MORE than any other
show I've ever seen in Branson. James is a phenomenally gifted
musician along with Branson pioneer Randy Plummer and Jim Glaspy
being a national Dobro champion and Texas State Flat Top Guitarist.
CJ Newsome also does a wonderful job singing and even showed
off her 4 month old daughter which the audience loved. I could
have stayed and listened to this group all day!
What a group to carry on John Denver's legacy. I'm sure John
is up there watching this group and saying "Far Out!"
My wife and I will be back again and again and will tell everybody
in Checotah to come see this show!!
This is not only the Best Morning Show in Branson-
It's the BEST SHOW IN BRANSON PERIOD!!!!!!!!

The show was very intimate and the performers very inviting.
The quality of music was amazing and you could tell James knew
the songs inside and out. He took requests directly from the
audience and spent time joking with us. By the end of the show
he felt more like a friend than just a performer.
He gave us our MONEY'S WORTH. The show was two and a half hours
long which in my opinion just didn't seem quite like enough.
It flew by faster than Colorado snow. He even added some variety
by showcasing the talents of the other band members allowing
them to shine in their own rights. I have been to many shows
over the last 9 years and I can say without a doubt that I enjoyed
James Garrett's show the most! Tribute to John Denver was a
fantastic show for our whole family. We have 3 kids all under
12 and they all loved it too!
We will definitely return to see him again.

While in Branson 5 of us went to many shows. This show was
by far the best and most entertaining performance that we saw.
We would go and see it again the next time we go to Branson.
It was that good. We were able to get front and center seats
which were great. However any seat in the house would have been
good.

John Denver Tribute (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
We attended both the John Denver Tribute and The Straight Country
shows. James Garrett is not only a talented artist, he totally
engages his audience. Every show and on various visits you feel
like you have been with a dear friend. Each member of the show
is a top artist but work together with laughter and harmony.
We took 11 youngsters from 3-14 who loved the entire show, laughed
at all the jokes and danced in place. James had each child come
on stage and filled bags of candy.
A must see show, more than one time- It's for you and your
entire family.

This was such an amazing show.
The audience interaction made it a personal experience and
the songs brought back so many memories of John Denver. It was
nice how, even though they were singing John's songs, they made
them their own and also sang many unknown songs that made us
John Denver fans thrilled to hear a "new" song by
Mr. Denver.
This was an amazing show and I think it should go on for many
years to come.

James Garrett did a fantastic job presenting the image and
voice of John Denver.
What a great tribute to his friend. We enjoyed the selection
of songs and the history of some of the songs. His personal
knowledge and friendship of John Denver was evident in the way
he talked about him. We especially liked his interaction with
children. He asked each child their name and had a little conversation
with each of them. Our two year old grandson Zachary was with
us.
His accompaniment, were very talented and professional. Randy
Plummer of the Plummer Family, C.J. Newsom, a great country
and gospel singer, and Jim Glaspy a guitar and banjo player,
man could he pick that banjo.

The show was absolutely wonderful!!!
John Denver is one of our favorites, and we have seen many
tributes. James Garrett made if fun, new, and different, with
his personal stories, and knowledge of the man himself. He did
an excellent variety of songs, from the well known to the more
obscure, and even took several requests from the audience. The
other two musicians were excellent as well, and added a very
nice touch, and a spark of humor. James was personable, and
made us feel like we were joining him at a coffee house, or
even in his own living room. He even took the time to greet
us after the show, and share even more stories.
Definitely on our "see again" list!!!

I loved the intimate little theater.
It was the perfect place to hear the music of John Denver,
as presented by James Garrett. James put on a great show singing
the hits as well as "gems", the unknown songs that
never made it to the radio. I enjoyed the stories behind the
music as well, as it really brought the music to life. There's
something for everyone in this show. Gospel, comedy, bluegrass
and some of the best musicianship Branson has to offer. This
show should definitely be voted best morning show in Branson.

What a great way to get the day going.
This was the first show we attended when we arrived in Branson.
We saw 7 other shows, but the family agreed that this was the
best of the bunch. Being a John Denver fan, I was totally involved
from the first note of "Back Home Again" to the last
note of "Thank God I'm a Country Boy". My son, who
is not a big fan of John's music, loved the show and has a new
respect for the man and the music. James Garrett has a small
but great band. Jim Glaspy, on several different instruments,
Randy Plummer on Bass, C.J. Newsome on vocals and of course
James on guitar and vocals. James was great at weaving stories
in and around the songs, which presented a new perspective on
John's music. James hit those incredible high notes on Calypso
and Rocky Mountain High perfectly. My personal favorite performance
was Annie's Song as sung by James.
I will see this show again when ! I come back to Branson.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
We have seen "A Tribute to John Denver" on several
occasions, but this past August I took my mother who just got
bad news from her oncologist saying that her cancer was spreading.
We decided to go out of town to take her mind off of things.
We went to Branson and saw the John Denver show.
The show was remarkable and it helped my mother forget all
her worries for a while. James and his band were very professional,
caring, and great entertainers. We felt relaxed and James makes
you feel right at home. The songs that were sung brought back
refined memories of John Denver.
It was a touching feeling to see my mom and the audience singing
along with James and his band. The spirit in the audience was
kept alive by the heart-warming stories that James told and
the sentimental songs that he sung from his gospel CD. The band
is there to greet you at intermission to shake your hand, answer
questions, and to look at the merchandise. They also seem to
let you know how grateful they are that we are there.
The gal who took our tickets had a splendid personality, and
everyone was so friendly and caring. We had a great time and
it really helped my mother.
Thank you James for a wonderful time.

The John Denver Tribute Show starring James Garrett is great
from beginning to end.
From the time a person walks into the Little Opry Theater you
feel right at home. Next, comes an incredible performance of
James Garrett singing John Denver’s little known songs
which leads up to Rocky Mountain High and other John Denver’s
awarding winning lyrics. James humble approach to the band and
audience is unparalleled as he incorporates everyone into the
show. You might forget that you are not being entertained in
your own living room.
Glancing at your watch you might be heard to say, “I
can’t believe we have been here for two and a half hours
when it seems like thirty minutes”.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
I consider myself a true Missouri girl with ancestors going
back 7 generations in the MO County I am from. I have grown
up over the years and watched as Branson has grown/changed over
the years as well. I have seen Branson shows come and go. In
fact, I probably have taken Branson a little for granted over
the years since it is only a short drive within my own state.
I've always liked Branson & it's always been close. It is
as simple as that. So, for me to sit and create a show review
to express how much I enjoy a particular Branson show means
that I must really like a lot of things about it. I'll try to
put my finger on some of those now... The Tribute to John Denver
Show in Branson is a very unique and entertaining show like
no other - it is a welcome addition to the other Branson show
offerings to say the least, and I, like many others, would find
an empty space in Branson if James Garrett's John! Denver and
Strait Country shows did not exist. I have traveled all around
the U.S. and to 12 countries, yet going to Branson is something
the "Missouri girl" in me loves to do. I genuinely
enjoy visiting James Garrett's John Denver Tribute Show and
so will you. The unique musical talents of James Garrett, Randy
Plummer, Jim and Karina Glaspy & CJ Newsom are beyond compare.
Each person brings a special something to the show I don't find
in other shows, and all together they create songs and harmonies
you want to hear again and again. I don't want to over-state
or over-hype anything and I don't think they would want that
either. But the down home, real feel of these people sharing
their real talent in a real way is great to sit and experience.
This is a show visitors want to see over and over again as you
can read in the other reviews. The show can transport you out
of your regular life and thoughts for a most enjoyable 2 to
3 hours. Each show is different with perhaps a special guest
or two or three - I like that I never know how each show will
unfold. It keeps my interest -- and I have a short attention
span sometimes! On occasion the owner of the Imax (Mr. Bluto)
and his wife come on stage a few minutes to sing or tell a story
or tell you how they came to know James....all of it is very
interesting and there is never a dull moment. I MUST mention
the guitar, dobro and stand up bass playing are truly excellent
and only a few feet from your seat. It's amazing to watch their
fingers fly over the instruments with so much ease, while hearing
such beautiful John Denver songs fill the air. This is the only
show around these parts that is keeping John Denver's sublime
music alive in such a unique way, and all in such a cozy little
theater at the Branson Imax. Be sure to visit the show. I didn't
post any pics of the show below. I never take my camera because
I don't want to miss a moment watching those guitar licks...amazing
to watch! Thanks James and Band for such great shows - you perform
like it is a walk in the park.
This show deserves every award it receives and most certainly
should receive the BEST MORNING SHOW award again this year in
2010.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
This was an excellent show. If you like John Denver music (and
who doesn't?) you will enjoy this show.
The theatre is small which gives it a very homey and relaxed
atmosphere. The show was very informative with just the right
amount of comedy thrown in. We learned interesting details of
John's life.
I really enjoyed traveling down memory lane with some of the
old familiar songs (Country Roads, Rocky Mtn High) as well as
hearing some not so well known songs. We learned about some
of John's favorite songs. I think a person might be surprised
to learn John's favorites were not his biggest successes.
This is a show the whole family will enjoy. Because John's songs
are fun and easy to sing along with even the young will enjoy
this show. We will defiantly be seeing this show again.
This was one of the best shows we've seen in Branson and at
the price made it a great value also.

The John Denver Tribute show is one I will visit again the

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
My wife and I attended for two reasons. First,
we were from the same area in Texas as James Garrett grew up
in and graduated high school and we both were long time John
Denver fans. I for one can remember seeing James sing and play
the guitar when he was probably somewhere around fifteen or
sixteen in Tapp United Methodist Church in New Boston, TX. And
I told folks that young man had a future and was going places.
So I was anxious to attend his show. And we were
both extremely pleased with the show. It gave the audience a
close, relaxed down home feeling. The theater although relatively
small contributed to the cozy, close feeling we had during the
performance. We were lucky to sit on the second row near stage
center and that put us up front and close to James because the
stage was right up to the first row of seats. The acoustics
were excellent for the music played that morning. I would say
that James is an outstanding musician and his voice was even
better than his music and he sang a full variety of John Denver
songs. I just closed my eyes and felt the emotions of the songs
as they were performed...including sad songs, love songs, inspirational
songs. James is a terrific Master of Ceremonies. His performance
was just like a conversation with all of us sitting spell bound
as he told stories both personal and those he had heard from
such as John's Mother and his lead guitar player.
One of the neatest things James did was bring
two kids on stage to recognize a birthday and give them some
candy. I learned about James' involvement in a ranch for crippled
and disadvantaged kids but I personally know that he also give
proceeds for CDs back to his church back home and he purchased
a house near that church and donated it to the church for their
ministries. So while you are witnessing a young man who in fact
did 'make it'....he has never forgotten where he came from and
has given back much to the place from which he came.
A must see performance and one we will go back
to see again just to get that good feeling while we are sitting
with our eyes closed and listening to the songs.

My husband, my son, my daughter-in-law and I reviewed
together the shows offered in Branson when we arrived on July
26th so we could decide which two performances we would see
each day. My husband and I had seen 'A Tribute to John Denver'
three years ago. We really enjoyed it then, so when my daughter-in-law
said she loved John Denver we recommended that the four of us
schedule a performance this time.
We all truly enjoyed the show, just as we did three years ago.
The little theatre is comfortable; the seating is wonderful
that we can sit so close to the performers. The entire show
lasted about 2 1/2 hours and even then we did not want it to
end. The young man singing John Denver's music was funny, personable
and informative. He does an excellent job and made us all feel
truly 'at home', and my daughter-in-law was happy that she chooses
'A Tribute to John Denver'. That is saying a lot because she
is extremely hard to please, and walked out of a couple of other
performances that were chosen.
This show is on the top of our list and will definitely attend
again when we return.

Previously I wrote a review about how much I liked the Tribute
to John Denver Show. I would also like to nominate James Garrett
for Best/Favorite Headliner.
The combination of his talent with his personality is what makes
his shows so engaging. I saw each of his shows, John Denver,
and Strait Country, three times while in Branson. I am not known
for repeat visits to movies or shows. James loves what he does,
and he definitely does it well. What I really liked was that
he didn’t imitate the artist he was honoring. He honors
John Denver and George Strait by passionately singing their
songs and playing perfect guitar. The stories he told gave me
new insight into Denver, Strait, and Garrett. I loved the way
James enjoyed his audiences and how relaxed he was on stage.
He also was very funny. He used comments from the audience and
band members to create on the spot humor.
I was amazed to find out that he does 2 shows a day, 6 days
a week. He did state in one of the shows I saw that some days
he “wakes up not knowing if he is James Garrett, John
Denver, or George Strait!”
Branson is fortunate to have this caliber of talent.

There's a good reason this shows has won Best Morning Show
in Branson 3 years in a row.
I live in Vegas, home of over-the-top entertainment. This show
is over-the-top Branson style entertainment. James Garrett is
exceptionally talented and his band is phenomenal! James' genuine
love for John Denver's music is glaringly apparent and his personal
stories about John add a personal touch to the show that I've
not seen in other shows in Branson. Jim Glaspy's guitar playing
and Karina and CJ's vocals are pure pleasure. I love the humor
they inject and their ability to think on their feet and respond
to audience requests and interactions. I know entertainers work
to make money, but this group also works to please their audiences
and have fun doing it.
This is definitely the BEST MORNING SHOW IN BRANSON!

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
My sister and I recently attended the John Denver Tribute Show.
We had so much fun! This was my third time seeing the show and
her second. Once again James Garrett was charming and held us
spell-bound for two and a half hours. Mr. Garrett appears to
be having the time of his life sharing the songs and stories
of John Denver. I always hear a new story and new songs.
This year I heard him sing “Shanghai Breezes”,
a song John wrote while in China. I can honestly say, the show
is never the same. James stated that the audience dictates the
direction the show takes and the songs performed. I love the
way he honors his audience. Because the Little Opry Theater
is so small, you can ask questions, make comments, and request
songs. James sincerely enjoys interacting with the audience.
Music is a bridge to the past and I definitely took a trip
across that bridge. James sings the very best of John’s
hits, especially “Rocky Mountain High”, one of my
favorites. Even though, James doesn’t look like John or
try to sound like him, if I closed my eyes I could see John
singing, and, James on guitar sounds exactly like John.
James is accompanied by Randy Plummer and Jim Glaspy, both
accomplished performers. CJ Newsom joined James on “Grandma’s
Feather Bed” and “Fly Away”. Jim Glaspy’s
Bach on the Banjo was amazing.
This show has great music, delightful humor, and terrific musicians.
I highly recommend it, and I see it every time I visit Branson.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
I have been going to Branson since 1967 and have attended hundreds
of shows - heard the “best” through the years.
The most unique and refreshing has been the James Garrett Tribute
to John Denver. It is personal, entertaining, and filled with
unrehearsed humor and stories of John’s life. Also, James’
popularity has attracted many noted people. In this show, you
never know who will attend, such as: John’s mother (Erma),
his aunt (Bubbles), cousin, and many other acquaintances - producers,
musicians, lead guitarists, etc., who were all associated with
John.
James is a natural entertainer with outstanding talents. In
my opinion, James has an unusual voice - one of the most pleasant
and enjoyable of all. I have heard all the headliners through
the years.
James should be considered as one of the best with nominations
for Favorite Headliner and Best Morning Show for 2010.

James Garrett Tribute to John Denver
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
They have put together their best mix of John's songs yet,
including Shanghai Breezes, and Whispering Jesse, in his first
half mix. Now if I could get him to include Rhymes & Reasons
in the first half I wouldn't have to request it every time I
go. I think this is not only the best morning show in Branson,
but the best show in all of Branson. For anyone who enjoys John
Denver's music this will be their favorite show they can see
here.
The fact that when you are in the back row, you are only in
the 5th row makes the most intimate setting in Branson. You
could just as well have James perform in your living room. The
beautiful and soothing music of John mixed with Randy's &
C J's gospel, a touch of blue grass and Bach on the Banjo make
for just a really great show. Another real plus for the show,
is that James knew John and has many interesting and funny stories
he shares Taking requests for the second half makes each show
a little different and keeps me coming back. I haven't seen
the show 100 times yet but I'm getting close. I haven't seen
any other show more than 6 times in the 4 years that we have
lived here.
I would vote for:
James Garrett as best/ favorite headliner
Jim Galsaspie as best instrumentalist
Best Morning show
Best Show
Best backup singer - C J
Best Overall Production

My friend and I attended "A Tribute to John Denver"

We have seen this show a few times and we just can't seem to

using songs, stories, and humor in his show. His stories about
John Denver are so realistic, it's almost like we knew John

This was a very moving show.
It was sincere and honest, just as John Denver projects himself.
They made a good selection of songs. It is a nice addition for
James to take requests and accents James' talent and versatility.
The show contained a good mix of other materials to break things
up. Jim Glaspy is a world class guitar and banjo player. We
simply had to buy some of his CD's. Randy Plummer presents himself
as gentle and humble and is an inspiring gospel singer in his
own right. Visits from Paul and Steve reminded me of the close
family-like ties that surely exist between the Entertainment

bond.

My family and I loved the show. Even the children, who didn’t
really want to go, had a great time. James Garrett, the lead
singer, even handed out candy to the children during the show.
The musicians were top notch and the singing was as good as
any show in town. I especially enjoyed the stories about John
Denver's life and the reasons the songs were written. The show
takes you on a journey through Denver's life, with the stories
bringing new appreciation for the music. The love songs were
my favorite. He sang several including; Follow Me, Perhaps Love,
My Sweet Lady and my favorite, Annie’s Song. This is a
show for the entire family with humor, bluegrass music, and
gospel and of course, those great John Denver songs as sung
by James Garrett. The kids enjoyed Jim Glaspy's banjo and dobro
playing.

I want you and everyone who may see this show (to know) it

The theatre is small and very conducive to audience participation.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
My daughter has been a John Denver fan since her very early
teens. I drove her to see John in Tulsa, Oklahoma, before she
was 16, and her dogs have been named Montana, Annie, the present
one Denver, and two others I can't remember named for something
surrounding John and his wife/music, it has been so long ago.
She was going through a second divorce last July 4th, so I booked
the James Garrett show in 2009, and this July 4th, we again
went to see the Tribute and would probably go back more if jobs
didn't interfere.
James Garrett obviously had a special relationship with John
Denver, and his tribute to John is something anyone who enjoys
John's music, should see. James sang songs John wrote/recorded
that weren't hits, but were truly special to those of us at
this show. We went to Branson just to see this show, drove up
on Sunday, watched the show Monday morning, and came home.
There are numerous things to do and see in Branson, but this
show is the only reason we go there. We usually stay close to
the IMAX and have never been disappointed in the Inns, food,
but most especially with the performance James does - he is
awesome and makes it a personal show for everyone. He will even
answer your phone if it rings and talk to the person on the
other end without their knowledge as to who answered.
He does a very spectacular, friendly, and caring job to relate
with the audience.

John Denver Tribute (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
This has to be the most personal show I've seen in Branson.
James would answer any questions the audience had about John's
music and family. He also took requests and sang them all. The
show was almost three hours long and the audience still wanted
more, with a standing ovation at the end of the show. Amazing
performance with great backup musicians. Jim Glaspy was great
on guitar, banjo and dobro. Randy Plummer was fantastic on the
bass and sang a couple of great gospel songs as well.
One of the best shows in Branson. I recommend this show to
everyone I see.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
I attended the John Denver Tribute Show with my husband George
on July 2, 2010. I was thrilled to see Steve Weisberg guest
starring on the show that day. Steve was John Denver's guitar
player for many years and co wrote songs with John.
My husband and I were so excited to not only see THE BEST SHOW
IN BRANSON but to meet Steve and talk to him after the show.
This show has been voted Best Morning Show in Branson 2007,
2008 and 2009 and I can see why. I have seen this show several
times and thoroughly enjoy it each time we come to Branson.
James Garrett and the rest of the cast are exceptionally gifted
musicians and singers. Branson music pioneer Randy Plummer sings
one of his original gospel songs which I felt was one of the
best gospel songs ever written. Jim Glaspy is a champion dobro
and flat top guitar player along with being a whiz on the banjo.
Featured female singer CJ Newsome does an awesome job also.
This is always the first show we attend when we come to Branson
and have told everybody we see about this exceptional show.
They are not only the Best Morning Show in Branson, George
and I feel they are the Best Show in Branson, bar none.

John Denver Tribute (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
This show should definitely be name the BEST MORNING SHOW IN
BRANSON again for 2010! And James Garrett more than deserves
BEST HEADLINER! His show just gets better every year. I've seen
it all 4 years he's being doing it and this time I was fortunate
enough to be there when John Denver's aunt from Tulsa was there.
Affectionately known as "Bubbles", I was impressed
how gracious James and his band honored her. James has a gift
for making people feel comfortable and his music is a heartfelt
tribute to John Denver the artist.
This isn't just a musical show--its true entertainment with
the spontaneity not seen in most shows. James takes audience
requests and interacts with everyone with genuine humor. He
and Jim, Randy, CJ, Karina all play off of each other in a humorous
playful way that makes you feel part of their show. His personal
stories about John add a personal touch. And I love Jim’s
guitar, banjo and dobro playing--what a delight!
I will keep coming back every chance I get!

John Denver Tribute (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
James Garrett’s Tribute to John Denver Show attracts
fans of John Denver, non-fans of John Denver, and family members
of John Denver. For three days the show was blessed with the
presence of John’s aunt from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Edna Bingham.
Edna, affectionately known as “Bubbles”, is John’s
mother’s sister. John’s mother attended the show
last September and both these wonderful women were impressed
with James because he didn’t try to look, act, or sound
like John. They appreciated the heartfelt tribute from a friend
to a friend. James ends the first half of the show with John’s
“This Old Guitar” and tells the story behind the
writing of the song. Edna was able to add one additional detail
to the story: A very important detail that put Edna in the audience
when John first performed the song.
James honored Edna with balloons, a corsage, a basket full
of CD’s, photos of the view from John’s back deck,
and other goodies. She smiled, laughed, and cried during James’s
presentation. James Garrett has the gift of making John’s
music come alive: John’s spirit is definitely felt in
the theater when James is singing his music and telling his
stories.
A Tribute to John Denver is ALWAYS an uplifting, entertaining,
fun experience. Randy Plummer plays bass, Jim Glaspy guitar,
banjo, and dobro, and CJ Newsom adds the female vocals and harmony.
The show is presented in the small Little Opry Theatre which
allows audience member to feel totally engaged with the music,
stories, and on-the-spot humor. Add the presence of a John Denver
family member, and this show becomes truly, one-of-a-kind.
If you ever read John Denver’s autobiography, Take Me
Home, John never refers to Edna by name, but every time he talks
about his aunt in Tulsa, it’s her. The fact that John’s
family members attend the show and love it is a great compliment
to James Garrett. Edna loved the show so much; she hopes to
return in the fall.

John Denver Tribute (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
My wife Amanda and I had a great time at the John Denver Tribute
Show at the IMAX theater in Branson. James Garrett is not only
a fine musician, but a fine entertainer as well. His segue from
song to song with various stories and humor kept the show fresh,
light, and entertaining. I left the show with a very peaceful
feeling and a true Rocky Mountain High.
Special accolades also go to Mr. Randy Plummer and Jim Glaspy
for sharing their talents as well. Randy's firm roots in Gospel
and Jim's expertise in bluegrass and anything with strings kept
the audience entertained.

Every time my wife and I make a trip to Branson we always make
time to see the John Denver Tribute show. James Garrett and

entertaining the crowd, but making the crowd feel a part of

Great music and great fun with sentimental story telling by

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
This was the 2nd time, 1st time last year, that I saw the show.
I looked forward to returning. I am not a fan type of any particular
person or group, so I wasn't necessarily going to hear John
Denver music.
The show as the year before was extremely enjoyable. Wonderful
music, James Garrett, makes beautiful music with his voice and
guitar. The whole group is extremely talented, Randy is a delight,
he plays his music and sings with utter enjoyment, CJ and Rick
both exhibited wonder sounds and talent.
There was also the stories about John Denver and his music
and interesting factoids.
James also told humorous stories and shared personal facts about
his group, himself, his family, the owner of the IMAX.
The show did not charge my husband, a veteran, for admission.
How very generous.
The also acknowledged the veterans'.
I am not an artistic person, but I know what I enjoy, and James
Garrett has a wonderful range of voice, very pleasant.
My husband asked Randy to sing Amazing Grace, which he was
not planning to sing, but he did so, and we were very grateful.
What a wonderful show, we go every year to Branson, for a church
function, and will continue to go to both the John Denver tribute
and George Strait shows.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
The Tribute to John Denver with James Garrett just keeps getting
better! This is the fourth year for this outstanding show and
James Garrett continues to entertain and delight. John Denver
had the ability to put into song our feelings and emotions.
His lyrics and music connected with us allowing us to feel our
unity with nature and each other. James reminds me so much of
John’s personality on stage: John had, and James has the
ability to develop a closeness with the audience. You leave
this tribute feeling uplifted, inspired, happy, enthused: Exactly
the way I felt leaving a John Denver concert!
James keeps the focus of the show on the Denver music, but
sprinkles in gospel, bluegrass and humor to highlight the talents
of his band. James refers to his fellow musicians as “the
smallest band in Branson.” Branson Legend, Randy Plummer,
plays the upright bass and sings harmony and gospel. Jim Glaspy
is a Texas Flatpick Champion and a National Dobro Champion.
He also sings harmony and plays the dobro, guitar and banjo.
These two amazingly talented men shine on their own and provide
a variety of entertainment to go along with the Denver music.
James sings the familiar hit songs, “Rocky Mountain High”,
“Country Roads”, “Sunshine On My Shoulders”,
Annie’s Song, “Calypso”, just to name a few.
He also sings “gems”: The Denver songs that never
made it to the radio. The uniqueness of this show is that James
and John were friends and James shares stories about John and
gives background information on the songs.
James remarkable talent and delightful personality is what
makes this show one-of-a-kind. He loves to engage the audience
in conversation and sing-a-longs. He is a masterful guitar player,
and he sings the Denver songs with a heartfelt love for the
music. His show is not scripted and he never uses a play list.
The humor is authentic and a result of the camaraderie among
the band and the audience.
This show needs to be experienced. I have often said you don’t
have to be a John Denver fan to enjoy this show. John Denver
fans love it, non-John Denver fans usually leave the show with
a new respect for John’s music, and everyone definitely
leaves a James Garrett fan.
Voted and awarded Best Morning Show in Branson for 2007, 2008,
and 2009 by Branson Critic, this show is still deserving of
that award for 2010.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
I attended the John Denver Tribute Show on May 31, 2010 and
was blown away by the tremendous talent contained on such a
small stage with such a small band.
James Garrett, star of the John Denver Tribute Show and friend
of John Denver, does a phenomenal job on all of John's songs,
even the most difficult one, "The Eagle and the Hawk".
James did an exceptional job on that particular song and if
I closed my eyes I could have heard John singing it himself.
James was rewarded with a much deserved standing ovation (1
of several) after he finished the song. James Garrett, along
with cast members Randy Plummer, Jim Glaspy and CJ Newsome are
incredible gifted musicians and singers.
The John Denver Tribute Show is a MUST SEE for all who come
to Branson. They have been voted Best Morning Show of the Year
three years in a row and deservedly so. Their small intimate
theater with the stage so close to the front row! You can actually
prop your feet up on the stage makes you feel like you're in
their living room.
At NO OTHER show in Branson can you talk to the entertainers
from your seat nor is it even allowed at some other shows. James
is a real person and truly enjoys interacting with his audience.
I go see this show as often as I can and thoroughly enjoy each
time.

John Denver Tribute (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
As you travel this year you might think about stopping in Branson
to catch the sights. If you do you will not want to miss a Tribute
to John Denver starring producer James Garrett and the "littlest
band in Branson" as he likes to refer to themselves. The
band comprises of Randy Plummer of the Plummer family, Jim (National
Dobro champion)and Karina Glaspy and James Garret as lead singer
guitarist. For the "littlest band in Branson" they
have an amazing array of talent to share. You will leave wanting
more.
As you listen to the beloved songs of John Denver, James will
weave stories of times he has shared with John giving you an
insight into the life of John Denver beyond the songs. You will
laugh, you will cry and you will walk away with a gift of their
music.
But that is not all........................so come on down

John Denver Tribute (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
It is not just a show- It is a unique experience for all ages.
The John Denver Tribute Show by James Garrett should win the
2010 BEST MORNING SHOW.
The music is top notch from beginning to end with a well-rehearsed
feel yet, equally important -- the show doesn't feel contrived.
The band (James Garrett, Randy Plummer & Jim Glaspy) play
their expensive instruments like it was a walk in the park -
leaving us regular folk with our jaws dropped open most of the
show! The day I attended, the audience sat totally engaged,
yet felt a part of the show enough to whoop or clap as James
& the band sang their hearts out, putting on an interactive
show. CJ Newsom adds a feminine presence and a unique sparkle
to the show with her smile & beautiful voice.
This show is enjoyable not only for the authentic music itself,
but because the personality of James Garrett, and his easy way
with his band members and the audience, is "real".
There was no fakeness or showiness going on during this show
and the audience feels "at home" as James draws you
in with his personal stories or with info. about John Denver's
music between songs. I have seen the show a few times before
& always enjoy seeing how James has changed-up or tweaked
the show for variety....I guess I should say it just never unfolds
each time like the last - which is so intriguing. The show is
personalized to the audience when James asks for their JD song
requests then works them in with whatever else he had planned.
The show was THREE enjoyable hours the day I attended. Frankly,
I can't sit still very long, but was totally drawn in by guest
singers, the Imax owner, Mr. Bluto and his wife performing and
telling how James came to be at the Imax, plus all the John
Denver songs you want to hear from James & his band. During
this visit I almost panicked thinking the show was going to
end without me hearing all the JD songs I wanted, but James
got them all worked in. Thanks James! At this show you’ll
find a lot of fresh, fun, authentic vibes wrapped around the
wonderful music and personalities of James Garrett and his talented
band. It is one of a kind and a good value at its current price
level. Imax parking is plentiful and easy.
This show should win 2010 BEST MORNING SHOW.

James Garrett- Tribute to John Denver
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
Oh my goodness; what a great show! People do not miss this
show, when in Branson.
And the theater was so cozy and personable. James Garrett does
a fantastic job reminding us what a great person/singer/songwriter
Mr. John Denver was. I know John Denver was a big part of my
life growing up; and it seemed to bring back many good memories.
After the show, the entertainers wait outside the theater to
shake your hand, give you a hug or some kind words. They make
you feel so special during the show and after and for many days
after; it was nice to take it home with me as I live in California.
Every body in the show does such a wonderful job even down to
an appearance of the owner, Paul, who in himself was refreshing.
I will put this show at the top of my list when returning next
year. Hope you all have a chance to see it. And also as a side
note, the complex that the theater is in has a great restaurant
and small shops you can visit, even movie theaters with a big
Imax. This is a wonderful spot to take the whole family when
on vacation - maybe I will see you there!

John Denver Tribute (James Garrett)

I enjoyed the show tremendously.
I had been a fan of John Denver and seeing the show was like
being at a concert as if John Denver was there. The cast is
awesome. Randy Plummer is a long time singer/songwriter/Branson
native. He has done some wonderful work and is allowed to sing
requests. I can see the dynamics between the group they work
hard and sing a good program. On my next trip I will be making
sure I make the show a constant one to see each trip to Branson.
I also enjoyed the attention they give to young children. They
involve them with using the spoons and giving them their own
set. Getting the signatures made a young girl happy. She was
with us and she has had a hard life and she felt like she was
a star.
Thank you for the great times.

Great show! Well worth the money.
James is very good- Interesting stories. His band is very talented
and I thoroughly enjoy the gospel songs Mr. Plumer sings. This
song is funny and so very true. It is a very fun and entertaining

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
I saw James Garret three years ago for the first
time. I attended his John Denver Tribute show not expecting
much. After all, the guy doesn't look anything like or sound
like John Denver. Needless to say, I reluctantly attended the
show. After two hours of hearing him sing, play, share personal
stories of his about John, and interact with the audience, I
didn't want the show to end.
The man is absolutely fabulous!!!!!!!!
I've seen other John Denver Tribute artists who try to look
and sound like John. No one looks like John and nobody else
can play like him except James Garrett. This is one of the neatest
things about James. He does and actual "Tribute Show"
to a friend of his. He doesn't pretend to be John. I could have
listened to him play all day long. He has a great sense of humor
and always makes the audience laugh. He's got it all. After
that first trip to Branson (I'd never spent any time in Branson
prior and I'm a traveler - been all over) I continued to return
to Branson every year just to see his show. I make sure to see
his STRAIT Country show as well. These are by far the two best
shows in Branson.
The John Denver Tribute Show deserves to win not only the "Best

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
This is a MUST SEE show in Branson. If you loved
John Denver you will be amazed by this show. Even if you just
sort of liked John Denver, you will LOVE this show. James Garrett
is one of the most talented guitar players I have ever seen.
He plays John's music just as it was intended to be played.
There are no short cuts or quick strums. He is an extremely
gifted man. He doesn't look or sound like John and I think that
this is one of the greatest things about the show. It's a tribute
show to keep John's spirit and music alive as it was intended
to be played and performed. James was a friend of John's and
this makes the show extra special. He tells stories about John
that many people have never heard before. You leave the show
feeling like you know a little more about who John Denver really
was as a human being. James has a fantastic voice and is able
to hit all the notes every bit as good a! s John did. This is
amazing in itself, because many of John's songs are not easy
to sing.
Another thing I liked about this show is that
it's performed in a small theatre and you feel like you're sitting
in a living room. There's not a bad seat in the house. James
also has the gift of being a great entertainer. He is able to
interact with the audience just as John did. He will make you
laugh, smile, and maybe even cry (in a good way). Hearing some
of John's more sentimental songs always brings a tear to my
eye. I don't think there's anyone else in the world who could
perform John's music as well as James. If you don't see this
show while you're in Branson, you're missing the BEST SHOW IN
TOWN!!
James band members are extremely talented as well
and you will love them as well. And as a side note - James is
also easy on the eyes. I hope this show never leaves Branson!
I see it every year - hopefully twice this year!

John Denver Tribute (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
James Garrett, by a long shot, is the most charming
personality on that strip.
How could anyone feel any closer to an artist, or more intimate
with them than sitting in the front row with their feet in his
stage? The Little Opry theatre is the perfect sized venue for
people to feel like they can "get to know" James and
the artists who play with him. We attended much bigger theatre
events, but always came back to see James, Jim, Rick and Randy.
We loved the show so much that we came back to see James and
the gang in the George Strait show too. Once being made to feel
"family" by the group, we decided to see Tim as Hank
Williams for breakfast and Leroy New as Marty Robbins. All in
all, we decided while we were leaving Branson, the IMAX Theatre
Complex had the best shows to offer, best pickin', and best
vocalists that left us with the best feeling (for the best prices!)
Thank you IMAX Theatre Complex (Paul) for offering us wonderful
entertainment. We will certainly miss you.

James Garrett Tribute to John Denver
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
For three years in a row, the Tribute to John Denver has earned
the Best Morning Show in Branson. I invite you to come experience
a show that will entertain you to the Nth degree. If you are
a fan of John Denver's you will quickly become a fan of James
Garrett, lead guitarist and producer of the show. He leads you
through many of John's songs with stories of John in between.
He terms some of the songs "gems" and when the show
ends you feel as if you have known John yourself.
The show starts at 10 a.m. and is located in the Lil Opry Theater
inside the IMAX Theater. It is tucked away in the corner in
a cozy 200 plus seat room where those sitting on the front row
can put their feet right on the stage. James often refers to
themselves as the smallest band in Branson but you will find
they create the biggest inspiration. The other band members
bring tremendous talent to the show to include Randy Plummer
and Jim and Karina Glaspy.
James often has many guests in the show to include Steve Weisberg
who was John's lead guitarist and co-writer. And you never know
who might be in the audience. So come on down for a trip along
Country Roads and Rocky Mountain High where you will find yourself
smiling.

James Garrett Tribute to John Denver
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
My parents sort of forced me to go to Branson
with them three years ago after I endured a few major traumas
in my life. They wanted to cheer me up. I wasn't really excited
about Branson. I thought it was a place for old people. My parent's
have been going to Branson for over 20 years and they told me
about this guy they saw in 2007 who does a John Denver Tribute
Show. I thought "big deal" - some dude thinks he can
sing and play like John. In my mind at that time, there isn't
a soul in the world who could play and sing like John, let alone
put on a show the way John used to.
I reluctantly went anyway and I was blown away by James Garrett's
voice, talent, guitar playing, interaction with the audience,
sense of humor, etc. I thought he would be some dumb impersonator,
but much to my surprise, he doesn't look or sound like John.
This is another one of the show's greatest assets. James doesn't
pretend to be John. He plays his music in honor of his memory,
and this is the neatest thing in the world. James was a friend
of John's and he shares personal stories throughout the show
that make it even more amazing. James plays the guitar just
as John intended the guitar to be played with his songs. I could
listen to James play 24/7 and never get tired.
This show is a MUST SEE if you visit Branson. If you miss it,
you're missing the best show in town. I was never a Branson
fan before, and now I return every single year just to hear
James Garrett's shows. My parent's are not as crazy about John
Denver as I am, but they don't miss this show either. They've
seen it four years in a row now (since it started) and will
continue to see it as long as James keeps doing it. James is
able to interact with the audience and he will make you laugh
during the show also.
DON'T MISS THIS SHOW ! If you do, you're missing a piece of
heaven on earth.

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
Gems are precious stones unless you are sitting
in the Lil Opry Theatre listening to the sounds of John Denver's
music. That is what James Garrett, producer and lead guitarist,
calls some of John's songs: Gems.
Come take a walk with James down Country Roads as he tells
tales of days gone by spent with John Denver. He is joined on
the stage by Randy Plummer of the Plummer family and Jim and
Karina Glaspy. Together they fill up your senses with the sweet
sound of Rocky Mountain High along with many other songs. You
will be hoping they do not stop.
The Lil Opry Theatre is a cozy 200+ seat room where you can
rest your feet on the stage in the first row and often James
will invite you to do so. It is more like a family sitting in
the living room having a jam session.
Along with the cozy atmosphere and great music, James will
often have guests on the show such as John's lead guitarist
and co-song writer, Steve Weisberg. You never know what surprises
await each visit.
I hope you will come for a visit, stay a while and completely

Tribute to John Denver (James Garrett)

I saw this show for the first time in 2008 and
was amazed at James Garrett's talent and skills. He is an amazing
guitar player and plays John Denver's songs just as they were
intended to be played. Few artists are able to do this because
John's songs are not the easiest songs to play. He also has
an incredible voice and is able to hit the wide range of notes
that John could. The show is set in a small theatre and James
will actually carry on conversations with people in the audience.
He has the gift of being a great performer/entertainer as well
as being an extremely talented musician and singer. You will
leave this show wanting more. I've seen many, many shows in

My parents have been going to Branson, Missouri
for over 20 years and they told me about this guy who does a
John Denver show when they came back from their trip in 2007.
They told me he was absolutely wonderful and that I should go
with them next time to see this guy. My parent's are not big
John Denver fans so I was a little shocked at their enthusiasm
about this show. In fact, they said it was one of the best shows
they saw down there. I am a huge John Denver fan and I didn't
believe that anyone on earth could duplicate John's music. I
went to Branson for the first time in 2008 very reluctantly.
I thought it was a place for "old people". I was amazed
at all the cool things to do in that town. I did see the "Tribute
to John Denver" show and I was blown away! I didn't want
the show to end. I wanted to sit there all day and listen to
James Garrett sing and play John's music. I couldn't get ! enough.
I have returned to Branson every year since then, including
this spring just to see this show. I plan to return later this
year to see it again. James is so talented. He is a great guitar
player and has the voice of an angel. He is also gifted with
the ability to interact with the audience. Many performers lack
this. I cannot say enough good things about this man and his
show. If you don't see this show when you're in Branson, you're
missing the best show in town.

John Denver Tribute (James Garrett)
Little Opry Theatre, IMAX Complex
I grew up listening to John Denver, his music takes me back
to a simpler time, one I remember with much happiness. I travel
to Aspen for the annual tributes to John and seek out any tributes
I can find in my home state of Arizona (they are few and far
between) In the summer of 2008 my family planned a trip to visit
relatives in Tulsa and, given its close proximity, wanted to
include a side trip to Branson. I began researching the opportunities
for entertainment in Branson, of which there are many, but when
I saw the James Garrett tribute to John, I knew our trip was
preordained!
I loved the smaller venue and the family type atmosphere of
the show. James was wonderful and his show was filled with so
many talented performers and musicians. I was in "Almost
Heaven," when I sat for over two hours and relived my youth.
I especially enjoyed hearing the stories James shared about
John, they always make you feel somehow closer to the man.
After the show, James was at the entrance of the theater and
talked to everyone who wanted to; he was there a long time!
He told us more stories and you could hear the love he had for
John and his music. I will never forget that show; it was the
highlight of my trip to Branson.
