February 6, 2006 Friday Feb 3,2006 was opening night for one of my favorite shows ever. The Legends theater looks the same on the outside but they have a new computer system for tickets and rather than have the usher tear your ticket they now scan the bar code. You still have the option of having your picture taken with 2 of the Legends performers and the show is still high class all the way. They took out 3 rows of seats in the front all the way around. They added steps in the very front of the stage so now when your favorite star comes out to greet you while performing they can just head down in front rather than having to go to either side. Neil Diamond started it off with the "America" song and then proceeded with the others including "Brother Love salvation show", the Legends dancers came out in choir robes and shook some tambourines to the beat of the music. Next up was Marilyn Monroe-she is always a big hit with the men in the audience and even gets someone up with her to play "Happy Chair". Its very innocent and she sits on his lap and his temperature rises. The last group up in the first half is "The Blues Brothers". I can't say enough about them. Justin and Bucky really show off this year and the music that makes you forget your troubles. They do a song in honor of the late Wilson Pickett and the dancers really get in to it with them. I have always loved the song "Shout". Bucky Heard truly lets folks know why he won the best singer in Branson award 2005 (Branson Critic Award). He can really wail and that song is perfect for him to show you his vocal range. I wish they could capture his voice for a cell phone ringer-his voice on Shout is that awesome and that note worthy. He and Justin made a movie called "The Forecast" and has a great new website for those interested www.theforecastmovie.com. During intermission the performers in the first half come out to the front of the theater and its there you can get autographs or ask questions. Its also the moment you can take a look at your picture that was taken of you when you first entered. The lobby is more open as the pics and stars are inside rather than in the crowded lobby. The second half starts off with Alan Jackson-he too is awesome and throws his guitar picks to the audience throughout his set. He sings "5:00 o'clock somewhere" and really nails the voice of the real deal. Next up is Shania Twain who also plays Marilyn Monroe in the first half-she also appears in the "Forecast" movie. She is very fun to watch and has all the moves as the real Shania. She sang one of my faves "Going up" and I had to tap my feet. Elvis was last and he came out wearing new costumes-he wears 3 outfits during his set and rocks the house with Jailhouse Rock and others that made the king famous. They show a small video clip while he is backstage dressing and it really adds to it. I love this show and will see it about 20 more times. They change it 4 times a year and this summer will have "The Beatles" and Toby Keith [Return to Legends In Concert] Legends in Concert - Got The Blues? |
