Fascinated With Tony
Hello again from South Dakota. My
husband, Gene, and I went to see Tony Roi's show last fall.
Gene wrote a review in January after much prodding by his two
cousins, who are among Tony's biggest fans. We had hoped to be able
to go see the show again but just haven't been able to make the
trip. Maybe later this year.
So I was excited when one of Gene's cousins showed up here this
weekend with Tony's new DVD. She knew we hadn't been able to go to
Branson again, so she
sort of brought Branson to us - at least the best part.

I've never seen any performer quite like this Tony. We watched the
DVD and I just sat there shaking my head because Tony so closely
resembles Elvis Presley, not only with his voice but with his
appearance.
Being an Elvis fan all those many years ago, I have watched with
fascination over the last 29 years since his death, many
entertainers who have tried to "be" Elvis or have done a "tribute"
to Elvis. Most of them make you laugh, although I don't think that
is their intention. Some of them make you cry - I'm sure that isn't
their intention either, but they are pretty bad.
One thing that can be said for all of them is that they most likely
do what the do because they loved Elvis and his music and
want to honor his legacy. Most of them should honor him in some
other way, at least in my opinion. Some of them would make him turn
over in his grave!
This Tony, though, is one for the books! He is so good at
what he does that if Elvis is looking down from wherever he is, he
must be smiling and shaking his head, too. Gene's cousin swears that
Elvis comes right into Tony's body whenever he gets on that stage
and I think I agree with that. Watching the DVD, you get the feeling
that Tony and Elvis are one in the same.
Gene and I surely enjoyed the Elvis Experience when we were there
and I am looking forward to making the trip to Branson again.
Gene might be more apt to go now that
he knows there is a little dance number by the two beautiful angel
singers!!
We're in our 70's and as Gene so
kindly put it, neither one of us are spring chickens anymore. But
even at our age, we still like to have fun and we love good music. I
don't think you could find a better place for that than by seeing
Tony Roi's show.
