LEONA'S DELI (CIOUS)!

 By Kathy Bennett:
One of our favorite things to do in Branson is trying out the various eating establishments. A few weekends ago, my husband and I were in town and I decided I wanted to eat. I suggested stopping at Leona's Deli and Joe readily agreed. We've eaten there several times before and knew what to expect.

To begin with, the food is always very good. It is prepared with fresh ingredients by a woman who obviously knows her business. This is a great place for the health-conscience!

There is usually a special such as a 'soup of the day'. Leona's also offers such a wide array of sandwiches and salads, there'sdeli something to please the most discerning tastes.

After studying the menu of tempting creations from Reuben's, Roast Beef and Cheddar, Ham and Cheese, to specials like Kyle's Philly and Adams Turkey Pita, we opted for one of our favorites--the Chicken Gyro. Though the salads looked inviting with choices such as Spinach, Greek, or Fresh Garden Salad (to mention a few), we decided to pass on those at the time.

Another great thing about Leona's is that while satisfying your hunger, you won't have to worry about putting a strain on your budget. The prices are surprisingly reasonable.

The deli is clean and cozy. Though it is comparatively small, it offers two dining areas. The first is an open, airy room containing tables and chairs you'll see upon entering. If, however, you prefer a more intimate atmosphere, the adjoining room is available where you can relax in a booth.

This charming establishment is owned and operated by Leona Baughman who is as intelligent, friendly, and down-to-earth as you can get. The mother of two young men, Leona has managed the business (formerly known as Vasken's Deli) since October, 2005. From time to time, the deli has been known to be frequented by local celebrities. We all have to eat and can appreciate good food.

There is ample parking and the Deli is easily accessible from either the 76 Strip or from Colonial Street. Leona's has a convenient location at 1819 West Highway 76 (across from the Apple Tree Mall) and is open from Monday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. The phone number is 417-334-7779.

My family and I highly recommend Leona's Deli. It is both affordable and deli-cious!
