Dino Phillips- the forgotten man!

What can one say about Dino Phillips? He is one of the greatest drummers I have ever heard. My wife and I travel to Branson about once a month to see Tony Roi and Dino Phillips.

I think one tends to forget the range of talent that Dino has. When I first heard Dino play, it was in the Tony Roi Power House Band. I thought, wow! This guy is really good. Since then we have followed his career and go to see him play in all of his endeavors.

Dino plays the drums in the Haygood”s band on the 8pm show at the Music City Center on weekdays and Saturdays. He also plays the drums on Friday nights at Tsunamis’ for a band called “Retro”. They play mostly 70s music, things like Journey and Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd, A little AC/DC Etc. He also plays drums for a band called Horn Dawgs at Shake it up on Saturday nights and one other night during the week. I think it is Tuesdays. Now the Horn Dawgs play some 70’s but they play a lot of 80’s as well. They play some of the Commodores, Santana, Joe Cocker, and many more.

Now keep in mind, Dino is the drummer for all these era’s. Can you imagine the talent that he has to be able to go from one type of music to another, not alone one era to another. And Dino does this, all in the same day. He goes from Tony’s music in the afternoon, to the Haygood’s style of music that same night. When he finishes there, he goes to Tsunami’s or Shake it up to do their type of music. What an incredible musician, and he sings too. He sings when he plays with Retro and also the Horn Dwawgs. My wife and I were so surprised when we heard him sing. He has a really good voice.

Not only is Dino a great musician, but he is also a really nice guy. He is very personable and is always eager to meet the fans after the show and sign whatever you ask him to sign. He is an asset to any band, and of course Tony Roi’s Power House Band is the very best.

If you are ever in Branson, stop by the Tony Roi Elvis Experience, The Haygoods, Tsunami’s or the Shake it Up and listen to The sound of the beat. That is the sound of” Dino Phillips” You won’t be disappointed.
